EF-S 400 4 IS

Why not try the EF 300mm f/4L IS, as it is the equivalent of 480mm on a 1.6x crop body?

Maybe because it would be the equivalent of much more mm (actually 640) on a 1.6x crop body and some need it?

No, a theoretical EF-S 400mm lens on a 1.6x crop body would be the equivalent of 400mm.  Note: EF-S lenses, which is what the OP requested, can only be mounted on a 1.6x crop body, so there is no crop factor.

as far as I know all EF-S Focal Length are measured in FF-equivalent so an 17-55 EF-S has the same Field of view as a 17-40 EF at 17mm mounted on a crop body.

And on crop a 10mm has the same FOV as 16mm on FF.

*Higher viewfinder magnification combined with larger "apparent field of view" via the finder...for all Canon bodies (except maybe the Rebel line).  An image through the viewfinder, with a 50mm lens mounted, focused at or near infinity, should show objects exactly the same size as the naked eye sees them...AND NOT SMALLER than the eye sees them.

new type of IS that uses the 1DX 3D tracking AF to compensate for an objects motion an not camera motion.
So the IS would be able to help out on moving objects.
I think that is just software ? or I am wrong ? ( lens-camera communication might be a problem ? )

Remove the Grip and look inside the battery compartment of the camera.
There should be the gold plated contacts für the BG.
Now count the kontakt pins on the Bg and look if there are small dents in the contacts in the camera.
The Number of pins and contacts with dents should be identical.
(In some cameras there are more contacts than pins in the Bg)
If one dent is missing then you probably found the Problem.
Also check if springs of the pins on the BG are all pushing them out the same.
There should be 19 Pins and 19 contacts with dents in them.

Has ever someone tried a DR-E4 DC-Coupler with an 12,6 V Voltage Regulator and an external Akku Pack that could be held warm under your cloth ?

I have used the 1Ds3 in temperatures as low as -10°C for times like a 10 hours or so and never had problems beside that the batteries doesn´t give the normal amount of frames and that the came back to live after been warmed up.

Right eye most of the time. Left eye in some close ground macro situations.

When I am in vertical and a flash blocks my view I close the left eye.
( or when there are strong lights blinding the left one )
Most of the other time I leave it open. helps with models and to be aware off actions out of the lenses field of view.
It is a bit complicated at first too see different things with both eyes but it gets better with time.

The AF hit rate is good!
A get a higher percentage of sharp shots than with the 50mm 1.4 both at 2.8
It is super sharp wide open!
Focus is a bit noisy but I would call it fast in a portrait situation.
In a macro situation it gets slower and at 1:2 I switch to MF most of the time.
Beware that it extends quite a bit.

I had that with one of my 580EXII it fired a powerfull flash and lost the connection to the camera.
Detached it and but it back on and it was good again.

It was in opticalmastermode an there was definitely no one else using a canon flash.

What do you think I have used ?

At my shot the lens cap is clicked in into two lines of the filter thread. So I think it also counts as attached or not ?

What I want to know is when Canon will start to properly support the needs of its most critical photographers: those who specialize in unfocussed low-light extreme macro shots of the back sides of lens caps. Clearly, this is a market segment that simply will not go ignored!
