I'm not sure I see the issue either way. Sure sure, maybe Canon could have technically built the 1Dc for the same(ish) price as the 1Dx. But it doesn't really matter. I'll be labelled an "evil capitalist" but the market has determined what 4K is worth. Canon could leave money on the table and sell it cheap but they don't have to because they are Canon. A lesser known company might be forces to sell it at a lower price.

*shrug* Or maybe it's just so far outside my budget that I don't care.

It is possible to see f/8 AF for the 5D3 considering the D800 has it.

I hope to see a 4K firmware for the 1DX soon. The 1DC is identical internally to a 1DX.

Why on earth would they do that?

Thanks for the link. I let them know how thrilled I am with the 1D X sensor performance.  Acceptable ISO 12800, and 25600 usable at need...simply awesome!!

And the 5D Mark III isn't far behind that honestly. I don't hesitate to use 6400 for a professional shoot. 12800 is very acceptable in most cases. I couldn't be happier with the performance of the 5D Mark III.

Others questioned the same thing when Adorama did it via eBay for $2749.00 USD. That's when I got mine and it came new in box, serial numbers matched, no light leak issue and I've been shooting with it for almost a month now and absolutely love it.

I don't know why dealers are doing it via eBay, but as long as its not Gray market and a reputable dealer, I say go for it for those that want to.

I guess eBay is the place to help those Canon authorized dealers to sell the 5D3 without "official" promotion.  Since it's not an official promotion for 5D3, Canon cannot complaint to those authorized dealers selling 5D3 cheap.

After the BeachCam 5D3 popped up for $2700 a month ago or so I called them. I said "Hey, I have a question about a product you are selling on eba---" He interupted "The 5D Mark III?" He said they had been getting calls about it all morning. All he would say is that they Canon gave them a discount on the order and it was a special deal.

I dunno what that means, or how the relationship between Canon and Authorized Dealers works exactly but that's what they told me.

So I order, and received one.

I find it peculiar that Beach Camera would sell it for less on Ebay where they have to pay a fee to Ebay, than there own website. Its doesn't make sense to me. When it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

It's not. I got one cheaper than that a month ago. BeachCam is a Canon authorized dealer. Warranty cards included and everything.

I got mine from Beach for $2700. They were a little sketchy on when it would ship. But after a few emails and maybe one angry phone call I got mine within a week and a half of ordering. Everything was in place and included in the box. It wasn't a pain free process but in the end I got a great deal on a 5D3 from a Canon Authorized Dealer.

But ideally I'd like this:

I'll take better AF spread over more AF points any day of the week. Honestly it's better that Canon developed a new system for FF than just cram the 7D system into a FF body like Nikon did.

The one of your son is a great shot. I agree that it needs to be straightened up. But, I'm extremely picky about alignment (maybe too much so). I did an engagement shoot this weekend where the couple was sitting on a bench that was not level compared to the brick wall behind them. It was a nightmare for me.

I also agree with the above that more floor below your son's foot would be better. Just for future reference.

Also, don't be afraid to crank that 5D3 up to ISO 6400. The amount of detail it retains in RAW is amazing. I wouldn't even hesitate too much going to 12,800. If you nail focus and exposure it is still usable.

I also have a EOS-3 and it's a fantastic camera. They can be found used on Amazon for usually less than $300. I think I got mine for $150 or so.

In my opinion yes, 24mm on a crop is very very limiting. I constantly had my back to the walls with my 24-70mm on a 7D and it drove me crazy. I would highly recommend the 17-55mm f2.8 or a FF camera.

The 24-70mm is a glorious focal range on FF. And 70-200mm is (more) beautiful also on FF also.
