I live in Okinawa, Japan is pretty spectacular.

definitely go to kyoto, see the temples there. Check out Harajuku in Tokyo, lots of wild sights there. Go visit the Tokyo skytree for sure.

There's a really cool overnight train that goes from Tokyo to Sapporo on Hokkaido. If you have time/money it's worth it.

Can you speak/read any Japanese? The trains and planes all have English, but the bus system is more hit and miss. It can be tough to figure out.

Get up early and check out the Tsukiji market as it's due to close next year.

The Ueno area has some really nice museums, parks, and sights.

That's what I use with my 5D3 and 70-700 2.8 IS II. Stable, relatively inexpensive.

Neither, 100L IS macro

I use it all the time. It's spectacular!!

It lets you get personal with your food, makes it interesting...

I see two options for you if you want to make the jump to FF..

Sell 7D and lens, buy 5D2 + a lens or two

KEEP 7D and buy a used 5Dc (they can be had for 500 or less) + 17-40L.

 "An f-stop is the ratio between the focal length of the lens and the *apparent* size of the lens opening as viewed through the front. It must take into account the magnification factor of all lens elements in front of the diaphragm, because it is the size of the opening that the light "sees" as it passes through the lens, not the actual physical diameter of the diaphragm opening. It is this fact that allows companies to make constant aperture zoom lenses which maintain a constant f-stop when the focal length changes, because such lenses are designed so that the magnification factor (diopter value) of all elements in front of the diaphragm changes as focal length is changed to hold the aperture value constant."

Wrong. Most of the people on this forum are pixel peepers who don't enjoy photography. The 7D will be a huge upgrade over that 30D in exactly the areas you need it to be. Buy one and enjoy for years to come...

People forget that the man makes the tool, not the other way around... Catch my drift?

If not, I know someone who runs a very profitable business on a twice outdated camera, the Canon 5D... Seems to do just fine.

buy it in person. try before you buy... price seems in line to me though.. According to google that is 1855 dollars which is only 145 less than I bought mine new last christmas from Adorama...

So maybe just buy a new one...
