Lenses / Re: New Tilt-Shift Lenses in 2013 [CR2]

But I don't quite get why someone would choose the 45mm TS-e over the 50mm f/1.2?  Autofocus, bokah, low-light...

because one is a TS and the other is not... Two completely different lenses. I don't quite get why anybody would consider those two lenses to be competition for each other...

oh no, something that only costs 400 dollars and produces superb video isn't perfect? You mean I can't replace my canon C300 with this?

God, give some people an inch and they want a mile...

Lenses / Re: Have $2200 budget which lens(es) to get next?

Sell the 24-105 and 28-75, get the 70-200II 2.8 IS, 135, and 35. You should be able to pull that off. Don't be afraid to buy used, especially today at lensrentals, they're selling all kinds of canon lenses, plus an additional 10% off...

70-200 1600$

35 for 950ish

If you're doing portraits and weddings, you need fast lenses.

You already have a fast 85. So from your list of lenses and your thread title, I think the only real choice is the Canon 135L. Check Fred Miranda, Canon's direct shop for refurbished lenses. Lensrentals is also a good source. Don't be afraid to buy used/refurb'd. I have more than a few time from the sources mentioned and have not been disappointed.

if it worked or was any good it would be talked about all over the forums etc... if they need to come to you then i suspect it isn't.....
Since the question was asked, it seemed appropriate for them to post a helpful note.  Its not like they were spamming the forum.
I think I had tried it a few years ago.  For a P&S user, or a first cut at processing 1000 images, it might save some time, but, I'd still spend about the same amount of time fixing images in any event.

You don't find it fishy that they found this thread? I suspect they are new, and have plenty of office time to google search for their name to see what people are saying... They found this thread, made 1 post and are gone. I see this plenty on various other forums I frequent.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: EF 24-70 f/4L IS & EF 35 f/2 IS Preorders
« on: November 06, 2012, 02:00:06 AM »
I pre-ordered mine from Adorama. I rented the 24-70 II back in september. I shoot a 5D3, while I loved the IQ, I missed having the IS from my previous 24-105 in many situations, leading me to comtemplate buying a 24 IS+24-70II (I really do need IS for a lot of my shooting), but this lens will allow me to buy one and be done with it. Can't wait... Hopefully I have it before Feb...

Nothing will ever beat the 24-105's price for entry into the L-lens club.

Both of those look cheaper than a 24-105....

Just saying.

The 5D is definitely the way to go for budget full frame.

This guy runs quite a successful business using mainly (maybe only) a 5Dc.

Canon General / Re: Canon's MAP Pricing Goes Into Full Effect Today
« on: November 01, 2012, 10:34:36 AM »
Guess this is to make up that difference to 1 billion...

my god. just go out and shoot pictures. Jesus. Peeping pixels is like saying my one dollar bill has a better ratio of red and blue threads than yours. Christ, use the lens what it's meant for, making memories, not seeing who has a better pixel than you.

I rented a 24-70II a few weeks ago, it was spectacular, but I'm still probably going to buy a version one because in reality, the zoom/hood design is superior. However, I have seen the reviews and the II is definitely crisper at the edges than the I, and that's without viewing at 100%, which I don't do, because no one looks at my pictures on a 80" screen...

Lenses / Re: Wide Angle for Crop and FF?
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:41:28 AM »
No one has really mentioned the 8-15L.... Works on both, and if you get DxO software, or are good with photoshop, you turn the the fisheye images into rectilinear images fairly easily with good results...

Don't laugh, I'm just using this page and images as reference...

Lenses / Re: Post your 24-70 II Experiences Here
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:02:03 PM »
Here I am fresh out of my time machine. The lens is sharp. It's so sharp that I actually cut a picture in half with it. It doesn't even need IS because though it's advertised as a 2.8 lens, it's really a .95, but it is razor sharp wide open, so there's no need for the IS.

Also, I was shooting with it on my 3DX...

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II Has Made its Way To Retailers
« on: September 03, 2012, 07:39:45 AM »
I'll make sure I hold my breath for it... Here are the flyers at my local camera shop in Japan... from Feb. And you can see on the one that the release date was changed to july 2012...

ISO? Where we're going we don't need ISO...

Lenses / Re: 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II not fitting securely to 5DMKIII body???
« on: September 01, 2012, 11:42:40 AM »
There is a tiny bit of play when my 70-200 lens is attached to my 5DMKIII....and when I say a tiny bit of play, the lens hardly moves, but it is noticeable.  Is this play normal for the 70-200 lens?

It must be. I have a new (one year old) copy of this lens, and noticed the same thing on my 5D2 and now my new 5D3. None of my other lenses exhibit this, but as you said, I cannot discern any difference in IQ.
