Wait, wasn't this already announced back in September?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 1DX "Caution 02" Warnings AND Filthy Sensor.
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:54:44 PM »
I've seen a lot of random Caution 02's in my log. Most timestamps match up with times I was shooting, but I've seen some that would have occurred when the cam was just sleeping on my desk.

My sensor was also horrendously filthy straight out of the box. 5D3 and all my older cams were always spotless.

I appreciate the feedback.  The HDRish processing has been dialed back in my more recent images :)

Experimenting with some composites...

Body made it home yesterday.  Looks brand new again, except for the top dial... It looks white/gray like aged rubber. Dial on the vertical shutter is normal. Weird.  Oh well. ::)

Canon just received the unit for repair and emailed the estimate.  Hopefully it's fixed today and back in my hands tomorrow.

Quote from: Canon Estimate
Camera needs top cover, back cover and front cover

Total repair cost is $879.  My final cost is $342 (Thank God for CPS Platinum!)

Did you "intentionally" throw it off when you're on a speeding golf cart? did it land on grass or concrete?
No, I didn't intentionally throw it onto concrete! :o

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Radio triggers on the 1DX
« on: September 02, 2012, 09:45:07 PM »
Any standard trigger will work... PW Plus II's work fine (and most certainly Plus III's).  TT1/5's works in basic trigger mode, but not hyper/high speed sync yet.

Alien Bee Cybersyncs work great; clean at 1/320.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon 5D Mark III LCD under exposure
« on: September 01, 2012, 12:13:28 PM »
I remember experiencing something similar on the 7D forever ago, and think I determined it was related to the auto brightness setting on the LCD judging the initial display brightness when the camera was being held up to your face.  Try setting the brightness to a manual setting.

Will probably be sending in for repair on Tuesday... or the next Monday at the latest. It's gaff taped up for the time being. Just avoiding any damp situations.

Insurance should cover it if Canon decides it's totally FUBAR... I'll let you all know the outcome.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: CPS Membership - Gold vs Platinum
« on: August 30, 2012, 02:16:00 PM »
Just upgraded from Gold to Platinum.  For those wondering, the "Platinum Member Gift" was the ThinkTank Artificial Intelligence 15 V2.0 (15" laptop bag) and the Cable Management 30, both with the Canon and CPS logos embroidered.
