I wouldn't read the manual without having the camera nearby. Like reading a dictionary without being able to change settings and testing them out.

I own the 35L, 50L and 135L. I'd like faster AF on the 50L. I'd like IS on my 135L so long as it didn't affect IQ. The 35L is perfect. I hope they get a faster AF on the 18 1.2.

They can upgrade anything they want... I just hope they do it soon. The sooner they release, the sooner the price comes down to earth.

When you're done pixel peeping take the cameras out in the real world and see which one is more fun to use.... Seriously.

If you don't own a home, you can still get valuable property insurance from State Farm or other insurance company. Also try your credit card company.

Homeowners insurance note...

My insurance (USAA) covers over 100K in personal property with at $1000 deductible. I am not required to register these items. Everything I have is covered, the moment I own it. My insurance company offers valuable property insurance with no deductible. This requires I register my equipment with them and I pay based on the value. I was quoted about $5.50/month for $7,000 in equipment.

Canon will warant the equipment for one year for manufacturer's defects.
The instore warranty is for damage, but is limited I believe, so you may want to check it. You must return the damaged equipment for the warranty. Lost or stolen obviously is not covered.

In my opinion, the best way to cover youself is by adding these items to your homeowners insurance.

+1 for 135L.... very reasonable price at sub $1100 USD. Part of the Canon L Holy Trinity (35 and 85 are others)

get a 5d classic or 5dii... That way you won't have a bunch of crop lenses to sell like me when you finally go FF.

Seems like you might do better with a new macro lens or 85L, perhaps 35L. I would wait on the 24-70 ii. If it not as sharp as the 70-200, you won't need to wait long for the price to drop.

I am thinking about getting the 5d Mk III even if it looks like the D800 is better on paper... I still think it remains to be seen if IQ would be better. I have used the 5D Mk II before and IQ is just superb! And Im not planning on printing billboard size pics anytime soon so I think 22MP is more than enough. I used to have a XTi and a T2i and have sold these too upgrade to a FF body. I have a EF 28-135mm and thinking about getting a L lens with the Mk III. Which L lens would you guys suggest I get. Im basically going to shoot mostly portraits, street photography, landscape probably within the budget of $1500.

Thanks for your input.

135mm f/2.0L is only $1050 USD. It is considered one of the fastest and sharpest lenses you can get. It has 9 blades and delivers bokeh much like an 85L. The AF is nearly light speed. The reason you get all this is because it's 16 years old. Somehow, they hit is out of the park in 1996. Despite this, the 135L probably won't be updated anytime soon.

Tamron 90 is better than canon 100 non-L IMO. Super sharp. Great bokeh
