Maybe they simply switched high quality and high speed so that high quality setting brought high speed in fact and vice versa? Let's see what comes next  :)

This print area restriction is the reason I ultimately returned the huge Pro-1 and purchased a ginormous iPF6300 in its place.  Don't get me wrong.  I thought the Pro-1 was a great printer: beautiful output, beautiful design, very well built.  I just didn't want to pay $1,000 for a printer that couldn't print an 11x17 image on any of my favorite papers.  For less than $2,000 (after rebates and trade in's), the iPF6300 is in a different league in every area but image quality.

The iPF6300 for less than $2,000?? Unbelievable! What's the standard price at your place? Here in Switzerland it's around US$3,200 and in Australia where I will live soon it's around US$5,200!!! At least that's the prices I've found so far on the internet. Does anyone from Australia have a good source or know a good place where to buy a large format printer? Ideas about prices? I'll be living near Cairns...

EOS Bodies / Re: 5d Mark iii file size?
« on: April 16, 2012, 02:10:04 PM »
my mark III Large jpg files are maximum 5MB (most are around 4MB) ???  .......  I looked at my old Mark II files and jpegs are bigger??

* low ISO (high ISO requires more data to store)

As implicated by Phil, Noise/grain adds to image "details" = bigger file size. I guess that makes not a big difference in low iso images but the higher iso you choose, the more noisy the image will be, and the bigger the difference probably will be between the two cameras. So a smaller image size could indicate BETTER in-camera noise reduction. Of course, if the images itself are softer in general (maybe AFMA needed) that's something else. Might be the reason for smaller file sizes as well...

Hahaha, only this time it's us shooting birds...

I always run two bodies, partly because sometimes you simply don't have 5-10 seconds to change the lens and partly because I need to have backup gear with me anyway, so why not use it.

How do you handle the two bodies? Black rapid double strap? :-D Assistant? And also the lenses, how are they ready for you? I'd prefer L Zooms I guess..... Still I'm really wondering how all the gear is managed/ taken care of... Thanks for some insight :-)

EOS Bodies / Re: Adorama Mark Wallace Product Review Of The 5D III.
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:52:33 AM »
I really like the fact that Wallace is not bringing up one single word that would state a biased comparison against a specific camera from some other brand. I think both cameras/brands have their place (yes slap me if you want) but I'm only interested to see what the 5DIII delivers. Of course, it's only my opinion... I don't know if he's brand-fanatic or not but I could imagine him as well talking about the good things that's delivered by the other brand. I guess that's kind of professional.

EOS Bodies / Re: Question regarding ISO 50 on 5D III
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:50:21 AM »
I'm wondering too why ISO 50 isn't in the standard ISO range of the 5DIII...

No extra noise, but since it's 'pulled' you effectively lose a stop of highlights.

So with ISO 50 you lose some highlights, but I can't help thinking pictures shot with ISO 50 can't be worse than those shot with ISO 25600, which is in the standard settings... Of course I know, it's easy to enable ISO 50 but I'm just wondering if those images would be affected that much that it really needs to be handled with care?

On the other hand, are there any situations where ISO 50 would be a solution where ND filters wouldn't fit?

I like I like! I'm wondering as well about more details to the AF settings since I need to learn a lot about the new focusing system used in 5DIII... for example, how was your settings to start focusing? Single point, zone AF and so on.... I guess for faster moving objects zone AF would be suiting, right? Does anyone know what happens if the tracked object gets out of the zone that was set in AF Zone? Will it still be tracked by the other AF points? Thanks for your help!

Edit: Forgot to tell that I've been looking in the manual already for answers but I haven't found it specified there. Maybe it's there but I didn't find it...

I love it.

Especially if it really was a one shot opportunity (not two or three), it's great how you managed to grab a nice talking expression from his face. Thanks for sharing! It reminds me a bit of Richard Avedon's work. (when it comes to capturing the right expression)

There is no room for a 2000$ FF: the 5dmk2 is already at this place.
Canon won't spend money (research, production lines, testing, advertizing...) and time to replace an award-winning, best-selling product such as the 5dmk2.

I think I read somewhere that 5DII will be discontinued from sometime around the end of 2012. Don't remember where I read it. But I think it was from an official source, interview or other information. Anyway then would be place for a entrylevel-FF around 2000$.

Thanks! I heard of a availability time in 4-6 weeks, so that's about the same. I wasn't sure if it was maybe faster at other shops.... I guess we will see some pictures then as well  :D

Lenses / 24-70 II availability?
« on: March 13, 2012, 01:06:31 PM »
I'd be interested if anyone has information on the availability of the 24-70mm II.

Does anyone already have it? It looks like a terrific lens, I'd be interested if its performance in real life use is that much better compared to the first version....
