EOS Bodies / Firmware Version 1.1.2
« on: April 24, 2012, 07:06:42 PM »
Can't seem to update my 5D Mark iii with the Firmware Version 1.1.2. Wondering if anyone else is having this problem? I only tried by using connecting camera to computer by usb cable then going into the EOS Utility. Fimware is suppose to fix these issues below (which by the way I never had, so I'm thinking I may not need it) ..... what do you guys think??
  1. Supports a new accessory, GPS receiver GP-E2.
 2. Fixes a phenomenon where a pink cast may develop over the image when the shutter is completely pressed with the camera’s power turned off (by the auto power off setting).
 3. Fixes a phenomenon where the camera operation stops after one shot when shooting in High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode.
 4. Fixes a phenomenon where the Shooting Date/Time in the EXIF data of the image shows a later time than the actual shooting time.
 5. Fixes the time zone for the Samoa Islands.
 6. Corrects errors in the Finnish menu screen.

Site Information / Shallow depth of feild.......... HOW ??

I am using a Canon 50D with a 50mm f/1.2L lens and a Speedlite 580EX II. For portraits. Here's my question. How can I blurr the backbground/get a shallow depth of field when using these tools in daylight? The only way I can acheive that is by not using the Speedlite but would really like to for "fill in flash", to get rid of some shadows. When I do use the Speedlite f-stop jumps to somthing like f11. I've tried it on manual and aperture priority mode and still can't seem to get the background blurred while using a Speedlite in daylight. Is there a trick to this? Can really use some information from you guys out there. Thanks, y'all have a nice day.

EOS Bodies / Re: The new 5D Mark III ?!?! PICS!
« on: February 28, 2012, 12:03:53 AM »
Is it just me or does the "III" on the first pic look fake? Now the second pic looks more legit and on the third pic you really can't see it clearly. Either way I can't wait for March 2nd!!! Bring it baby!!  8)

I saw a similar comment earlier in the thread and frankly, I think this impression is just a result of some perspective distortion.  When you look at the more straight on images, it is clear that the III slightly wraps around the curved edge of the body.  Combine that curvature with the angles of both the imaged camera and imaging camera and that's probably what you get.
Well Played!  :)
