I don't know much about Windows Phone 8, but I'd imagine your app choices would be more limited due to there being less developers.

This was my main concern I guess.
I really like the Nokia Lumia, both for its design and the legendary durability of some Nokia models.
I WILL however choose the device based almost solely on the availability of apps as the latter (for me) constitutes the only reason to upgrade.
I find the ability to use a smartphone for tethered shooting (eg. star timelapse from inside my tent & awkward angles) , video monitor (albeit a small one, eg. the "missing" articulating LCD on my 5D) and so on.

Look at how awful the false color artifacts (rainbow colors) are on the BMCC sensor vs. the 5D3 RAW rendering the pebbles on the path up the middle:

Hmm is this a general issue with Black Magic sensors? Or is it a contrived example?

Off-topic: Does anyone know of any reference-ish media player? With some clips, I seem to get variations in different players unless I tweak them. Kinda makes it hard to compare files unless we specify players and codecs?

What is getting hot, the CF card or the controller or both?
I recall friends using heatsinks on overclocked RAM, I wonder if one could modify a CF card for conductivity (or compel a company to do so)
After the announcement of the BMC 4K, the chance of me using the 1D C professionally has decreased alot, and overheating is an issue that I need to consider as we plan to shoot in full sun in Africa and other sauna-like conditions. Would be cool if someone with a 1D C (and good hands) would try modding a CF card and/or the CF card-door.
EDIT: I wonder if these would perform better?

I understand that we all have different needs, but personally, I get frustrated from the eternal incremental upgrades.
This thread again reminded me to go out and shoot instead of spending all day chasing dreams

Thanks for sharing your observations. I have been saving for an external recorder, but  as it looks right now, I am thinking that I may be better off spending the money on glass and other additions to my kit.
Very nice that 1.2.1 is crisper but odd that we're not seeing bigger improvements on the external. I wonder if this is yet another effect of Canon marketing or what not.
Will you be posting further findings in this thread?

Sometimes before deleting my rejected pictures, I convert them to b/w and once in a while they turn into keepers Here are a few recent ones. Not sure if to crop them tighter and still trying to figure out sharpening...
