Wrong. As far as I read the news, the sensor of the SL1/100D is "new", the sensor of the T5i/700D is the one used already in the T4i/650D.

Well its "new" alright.

You could get creative with the sign-up page, lets say for example that there was an image (pulled between 6-7 different ones) with a simple field such as "what type of photography is this" and the answer rotating between landscape, portrait or sports, Sounds dumb enough that it might actually work.

Give a cheap violin to a violin master and they will still make beautiful sounds with it. Give a Stradivarious to a begginer and the reverse will happen. It's not the camera but the photographer's skill and talent...
I see so many invested photographers these days with all the pro kit and not a clue how to use it.

Its one thing to know how to use a tool, its another what you do with it.

Hah, i remember that! I 've installed it in my bro's 400 ages ago, cant believe its still being developed! Fine piece of software, and a glimpse of how much can be done in software if only companies would allow it. (also how they cripple their products, hint: 400d has spot meter!)

You havent posted your lenses but here it goes:

As CROSSfirePhoto said skip the t5i since its an overpriced, rebranded t4i and look at t4i directly, that should save some more $$$, or have a look at the previous Nikon generation such as the 5100 or 7000; reason for it is the excellent sensor and the cheap primes lineup.

There are still people running XP machines for the last 12years and judging by win8 adoption rates, some people will run win7s for another good 7 yrs. So CS6 can serve someone for quite a while. Actually the only problem in the long run might be the advent of affordable highres panels.

Look, there are probably two (maybe three) people on the planet who have actually exceeded the capabilities of the equipment they already own.
...
1) It does not matter who you are or who you think you are, you are not even a fraction as capable as the camera you already hold in your hand..
2) Spend your money on the only piece/s of equipment that will ever improve your photography - lenses.. If you have anything left over and just have to spend it on something, take a class or attend a symposium to learn how to be a better photographer.

From time to time i bump into this pearl of wisdom.
Since this is CR and not Instagram's "#look what i ate today!" lets see some examples of how difficult it really is to  exceeded the capabilities of the 7d in question:

• Do you still get random OOFs when tracking even though you played with the settings and your technique is adequate?
  
• Have you ever hit buffer limit?
• Ever disappointed by WB under artificial lighting?
• You tried to lift shadows only to find the surprise underneath?
• You get sky noise even though you're shooting below 400?
• You dont get useful 1600s+?
• Did you ever tried autoiso only to find its a slopy implementation?
• Weak AF under low light?
• Meter goes bananas in challenging situations?

Have you ever bumped into any of the situations above? Well congrats you  are one of the "two (maybe three) people on the planet who have actually exceeded the capabilities of the equipment they already own" according to SiliconVoiD

Newcomer here... former 25 year Nikonite.   Do all followers feel that this source is a legit one?  I've been following the whole 7DMKII ambiguity since September of 2012.   I have now been without a body since January anticipating the arrival...

Is the general belief that there will be no 7DMKII until 2014 and should I just get off the pot and get a 7D until such time?

Advice?

P&S is a vastly different item than dslrs as others noted and it abides to different rules. When someone goes in a shop for a 2k+ camera he usually knows damn well what he wants to buy, on the other hand, someone looking for a P&S usually doesnt have a clue and will buy whatever the salesperson convinces him to or whatever tickles his fancy. And its in this aspect that having dozens of new models every year makes sense. Think about toothpastes in the supermarket. Every brand has dozens with slight different characteristics (and usually the same paste inside). The reason for this?
Shelf space.
Think about it. Having the best toothpaste in the world is not enough to guarantee sales when its just 1 item in a shelf of 50. Whereas if you could have 15+...

Shooting a black object is not so much about pumping kwatts of light to it or raising shadows. Its all in the reflections /highlights. Play around with some reflectors and/or big softboxes and you'll see you can actually shoot anything black with great definition even in a dark room.

The Sigma 35/1.4 is optically a little bit better than the Canon. However, resale values on Canon L lenses are generally higher than 3rd party lenses (and if/when Canon releases a 35L II, its much higher price will likely drive UP used 35L prices, meaning you'll likely be able to sell a used 35L for more than you paid).

True about the resale value although I highly doubt that will be the case with the 35L, not with the sigma (and the fanbase it builds) around. There are people who would buy a canon lens just cause its canon but i doubt they'll be enough to stop the resale value from tumbling down even with a new lens announced.

Plus, for the sigma as a 3rd party lens, a 35 1.4 of this quality will keep its value for a long, long time. Actually given time i think sigma's price can only go up.

It does. Use a lens at 1m, then at infinity - it is a different lens really. I have noticed this with my 17-55 - much better at 2-3m than at infinity.

Many people test lenses at close distances and make far reaching conclusions; and this is wrong.

I've noticed that too. Some lenses (all?) behave differently depending on distance: min distance to 2-3m to infinity. Havent seen official data on this from any manufacturer, from time to time a reviewer might notice it. (photozone mentions it in a couple of reviews)

Meh, I want to see a comparsion using equivalent focal lengths 210 and 200mm is fine.. but the framing must be exactly the same (subject takes up the same percentage on the sensor). Both images downsampled (never upsampled) to fit here on the site. Any crops (as long as there's no upsampling ) should be fine... ex: 100% on the sx50 and 55% on the 5D mark III (for equivalent sized images.)

Well, they're both fruits; OP is talking about reach/resolution vs cost and its obvious SX50 comes on top. Comparing them in the exact same frame doesnt make any sense.
