Dells are junk. Avoid them at all costs.

I've been using Canon for 12 years. I had film camera, then 20D, 5D, now 5D MK II. Now i am considering to sell my camera and all L-series lenses and switch to Nikon. Never tought it could happen to me! But what Canon is doing recently is just some kind of a joke. 6D is a big dissappoint to me, less mpx than MKII, higher price, no built in flash (I know it's funny but i wanted to use it as a family camera). Canon doesn't have breaktrough developments like in the past, this brand will become follower not leader soon (maybe it is already). The next thing they would announce: "Please customers don't buy Nikon, we will do something worse for much more money somewhen in the future. These rumors about a possibly developments are just trying to slower Nikon sellings. Won't work, Canon!

Never takes long.

Yep. Got to love people who think more megapixels will automatically make them better photographers.

Why does buying Nikon gear require selling Canon gear?

Most gearheads only can afford one system at a time. They spend tens of thousands of dollars on gear only to have their state of the art cameras sitting on their coffee tables. They don't bother taking photos or learn how to shoot in manual. Then they wait eagerly on the Internet for the next uber megapixel camera with 50 extra stops of DR to come out from an opposing brand. Then they sell all their gear again and start all over again.

Either way it's going to sell like hotcakes.

To whom, exactly?

n00bs, students, parents?

Just because somebody buys doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. A body is only one piece in a whole ecosystem. The GPS and Wifi might be nice to have integrated and you can complain all you want about the specs but it's not really that bad. There's a couple things that would of been nice to have but I'm sure this camera will take some great pictures.

Exactly. Most gearheads bitching and whining about the specs don't know how to take good pictures let alone know how to shoot in manual.

And just like that... boom, there it goes...  people complain or criticize about product and someone just has to go to the personal attack with the same typical defensive response... "I think it's good and I'm awesome so anyone who disagrees must be a gearhead and doesn't know how to take a good picture anyway"...

Well it's usually the case. I've run into too many gearheads who own all the latest gear, every single L lens, but when you ask them to shoot in manual and properly expose a photo, they scratch their heads. There's too much negativity on the Internet.

Price drop or no, it wouldn't have made a difference since I live in NYC and would have had to pay taxes on top of it. Luckily I bought my Mark III from Crutchfield with no taxes and free shipping when it first came out.

Lenses / How much to sell my used 24-70mm L for?
« on: September 16, 2012, 08:19:36 AM »
So I'm saving up for the II and was wondering how much I could get away selling my 24-70mm L I for since they're discontinued. It shows some wear but still works pretty good.

Only Nikon shooters would do this.

All you need is a tripod.

The photos of the Mark III straight out of the camera were so much better than the II in terms of IQ, exposure, and color rendition.

In-camera jpg shots, or do you mean straight RAW conversions on a computer?

Straight RAW from the camera.

It was interesting to say the least. Shot with both cameras set to the same settings with the 85mm f/1.2 and 24-70mm. The photos of the Mark III straight out of the camera were so much better than the II in terms of IQ, exposure, and color rendition. When some people say there's not much difference in IQ I have to say they're full of it. The handling of the Mark III just felt so much better and more substantial except for the new joystick on the new grip. It just felt awkward. It will take some time to get used to.
