I'd say 80% manual and the balance Tv for bif. Got have that shutter speed consistent because those birds don't wait for you.

Hmmm....... can't believe this thread is still going but hey what the heck. There is good information here and while I am enjoying the 5d3 as it is, I'm getting interested in trying the grip. I have large hands and it would be interesting to have more to latch on to. I'd like to get another lens for my video work but the grip would be nice for the straight photography aspect. Decisions, decisions.

I got the Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro tripod and the Manfrotto 701HDV Pro Fluid head and had great success with both. I don't have any comparative experience with others. The tripod is heavy.

They absolutely are, after a year of shooting with L glass I used some Zeiss glass on the last shoot I did and I don't think I can go back to Canon for video now. I got the 21, 50, and 100 but am going to pick up the 25 f/2, 35 f/2, and 85 1.4 once I sell my Canon glass.
This is the kind of information I'm looking for. I've seen all kinds of websites touting this Zeiss lens or that but I don't want to drop that kind of money without some "consumer" feedback on them.
