Officially, the "affected" serial #'s are in this range:
*Products whose sixth digit in the serial number is 1 or 2 are affected.
For example, “xxxxx1xxxxxx” or “xxxxx2xxxxxx” (
  • represents any optional number.)                           Mine, which shipped in March, has a zero as the 6th digit, and there were some later shipped ones with zeroes, I understand. So the serial numbers may connotate both production sequence and assembly location, don't know. At any rate, the only clue as to repair status may be the white dot on the card slot cover.

Well, mine also has the zero, but no white dot; received it back in March before all this stuff started.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 5D Mark III Light Leak Resolution (Canon USA)

Mine has a zero, which is not part of the "affected" series. [I was able to reproduce the light leak issue with the lens cap on, tho]. So, are the serial numbers sequential, which would imply that early models were somehow different than slightly later, but not much later ones? Or do the numbers represent different manufacturing sites?

EOS Bodies / Re: The ultimate 5d3 poll - What's your take on the 5d3?

Moved up from the 40D - big jump. 5D3 is more than I could have hoped for. Best thing? MORE KEEPERS. Less poorly focused + exposed/noisy toss-outs. Sure, it's my lousy technique, most of the time, but this is a forgiving piece of equipment. I will certainly be shooting more.

Great shots! I really think the 5DMIII was made for crazy events like these.

Congrats to all who have gotten or will soon get their 5DMIII's! Mine will be here Monday. Will spend the next few days rereading the manual, and trying to decide on some presets. Good times.

Um. This has me concerned. CS told me that it would ship today or tomorrow, my status then went from "Pending" to "Processing", but now it's back to "Pending".

57
Adorama order will ship today or tomorrow. Not ordered till the afternoon on March 2nd, so the first batch will be pretty generous, it seems. Status still says pending, but found out when they tried to charge my card. CS was VERY nice.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D III AEB still limited to 3?
« on: March 21, 2012, 09:10:03 AM »
It's kinda confusing - first the manual says 3 shots, but later tells you how to adjust that up to 7 shots AEB. Multiple exposures are a different animal; that is where several [I believe up to 9] shots of a subject in motion are captured in a single frame. Very beautiful effect, and I'm dying to try it
