+1 on Carry Speed. Tripod plate was the main reason I went with it - very well thought out.

Well. I've been an Apple fan since the Mac Plus, but I've drained pasta in better-looking hardware than that Leica.

I find myself framing too tightly on occasion, probably from all those years of shooting reversal film. Then I kick myself when I run out of space trying to correct perspectives.

Wow, after reading these excellent replies I suddenly remembered that I need to crouch when using my Manfrotto MH054/190CXPRO4 without extending the column.

I am 5'4".

I guess the manufacturers are strictly going for minimal packing length.

Mine wouldn't deliver a code on Comcast either. Went through immediately on me.com.

Lenses / Re: What (nd) filter to put in the 17-40L back filter holder?
« on: September 20, 2013, 11:28:28 AM »
For the best optical quality, you can use Kodak Wratten gels. Their #96 ND gels work well, and come in various densities. You have to cut them to size to fit your holder, and handle them with gloves or tweezers to prevent fingerprints.

I use Adobe CC [yes, it is the Dark Side, but I'm only blowing $10/month, so far], and Lightroom 5 was a free download.

Software & Accessories / Re: Big(ger) Bag Recommendations Needed
« on: September 17, 2013, 09:37:28 PM »
One thing to watch out for, whatever you decide on, is the internal design of the pack. Some manufacturers produce bags that are insanely over-padded, and/or very hard to customize. Their carrying capacity is surprisingly less than specs might imply.

I use a Pelican case for some of my stuff, and keep the rest in marked plastic bins. But a cabinet with multiple drawers would work well; here are some examples from IKEA:
