5D MK III Sample Images / Re: 5D3: is shutter dying?

This is the stuff I read this forum for; thanx to all who share their knowledge!

Love my Fuji X10. Versatile, great quality, cool retro looks. Have it all pimped out with a leather half-case and a soft release. Fun camera; nice for traveling light and/or very unobtrusive street photography.
Kinda big for a pocket, but rides well in my Think Tank Retrospective5, which I use as a purse.

Great lists!

Along with some of the mentioned goodies I try to bring some gaffer's tape, either in my bag or wrapped around tripod legs. Handy stuff.

+ 1 on the above comments. Buy a very fast USB3 reader, and don't go through a bus.

I use a Lexar LRW300U and it's been great.

It is generally advised to power down when you are changing lenses, because the sensor maintains a charge while on and can attract more dust. And, sure, you should cap the back of the lens before you chunk it in your bag.

But, you know, I have a drawer full of lens + sensor cleaning goodies. So long as I avoid physical damage to the glass, I can clean it all up later, and not miss any shots. 8)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: EOS 5D Mark III Firmware 1.2.3 Available

It's generally a good idea to stay up-to-date on your firmware. There have been some nice improvements via the updates, like the f/8 AF.

OTOH, there have been some issues, such as the reduction/removal of support of 3rd-party batteries.

I usually wait until a few folks try out the update to see if it might negatively affect my toys, and then go for it.

Yes, Humanity trumps Photography. If there is a way to help someone, that would be the priority.

+1 on Carry Speed. Tripod plate was the main reason I went with it - very well thought out.

Well. I've been an Apple fan since the Mac Plus, but I've drained pasta in better-looking hardware than that Leica.

I find myself framing too tightly on occasion, probably from all those years of shooting reversal film. Then I kick myself when I run out of space trying to correct perspectives.

Really nice shot, especially after the B/W conversion.
