Yep, cost is the main factor preventing me from going FF! :-\

Same here but id rather save 6 years or such than getting another APS-C. FF ill probably use it another 6 years or more anyway since its like "goal reached" :)

Lighting / Buying Yongnuo Flash
« on: January 23, 2013, 10:46:47 AM »
Hi,

i decided to get a flash finally. Id prefer to get a wide aperture lens for low light shooting but thats just too pricy for me and i think a flash is handy anyway not only for low light situations.
Im gonna get the Yongnuo 468 II E-TTL version. Its kinda cheap and i think it will suit my style.
Question i have:

Ive seen many times ppl using really cheap cameras with an external flash. Even the Toy Story (tm) camera was used like that in a digitalrev video. How does it work? Just let the camera fire with flash and that will trigger the external flash? I got 1100D so there is a popup flash.
Ive seen in the video they redirect the (popup) flash so its like only the external flash lighting the scene up.

Does that work with the yongnuo im gonna get? Are there any special "flash redirection" tools? Or other option would be to get a flash transmitter right? Works with 468II ?

Im still wondering if there isnt some kind of "delay" between the first and 2nd (external) flash? Probably it gotta do with electronics working in microseconds but the shutter is just milliseconds?! I just dont understand really why its possible to use like _any_ camera (even cheap ass toystory camera) with an external flash :O

I don't think most of the people that replied really cared to read the original post. He's NOT looking to upgrade to full frame.

Sorry my bad, but why would somebody not want to go FF? Anyway, If not FF then get 7D, best aps-c at the moment.

This one is small but different than the canon one you can use like "any" focal length.

Better a noisy photo than no photo. Seriously go develop some of your digital prints and you will see the noise that looks so offensive on the screen isnt an issue on the photo print really.

If i was you i would save more cash for a FF body. The 7D is not that new anymore and probably gets replaced in 1 or 2 years or even this year. If you buy a modern Ff body then u can even use it for 10 years from now probably. With a bright lens u will probably never go much higher than ISO 6400 and thats really useable today already. Even Isos over 10k produce usable pics (check high iso thread here). I think ISO quality wont improve much anymore, next big thing might be DR but it will also take many years to notice the difference.
Plus the 7D is not really cheap too if u buy it new. Just save more and you will see a HUUUUGE difference over APS-C :)

More DR and less noise sounds nice, thanks for explaining it to me. Would it be a big difference? 1/2 stop sensitivity sounds not much to me. Will i even notice it in my photos ?

. the key word here is (quite correctly) "integrated". If only integration was a reality....  Sorry for offtop.

Well if integration goes so far as they work and have a social life in a community where they happy its fine i think. If they are lazy and live off social welfare thats not good of course, but that applies to ANY person no matter where they from.
I think there are too many white people who expect foreigners to totally convert into "white people". Reminds me of german people living in another country....in a german community area....speaking german...eating german food and so on. Its just the same except it somehow seems like white people always go crazy about foreigners o_O
TBH i dont know much about the UK welfare system i only know there are a lot of foreigners in germany who live off government money and have no will to change it. But there are also a lot who work (and do jobs german ppl rather not want to do often).
But basically its just a big wuss since we have enough cash in our country to support these people. Its just easy to blame minorities i guess. And not to mention the number of white people here who are basically too lazy to work...

The bokeh is fine in the photo isnt it? If he really used 1.2 then it probably looked like it was taken "somewhere".

EOS-M / Re: Micro four DoF and lenses
« on: January 21, 2013, 12:42:54 PM »
What is an opstacle to make it 0.6 or 0.7?

The biggest obstacle would be the price for selling it. The 0.95 lens we have today costs about 10000$. 0.6 would be like..100.000$ or maybe more :P Whos gonna buy that for a 4/3 system? ^^ And enjoy the 1/8000 or faster shutter speed you will need if you use it wide open in the sun outside. Permanent ND filter needed indoors probably :P And i dont wanna even think how shallow the DOF would be. Eyeball in focus, eyelashes blurry much :P

Im not smart. Whats the difference if we had such a sensor technology already used today? Please tell me in easy to understand words.

I'm just jealous I can't afford the 85L, but can get the exact same shot with my 70-200 L f/4....

So? I heard people that got the pulitzer prize award have used cameras which are totally stoneage technology compared to todays digital world. Does it make a difference? no.
Getting a good shot is not about the lens u have.  Anyway the president is not a model and doesnt want to be presented like that :P Its all about good documentary photos not more not less. Camera settings also look a lot like typical studio settings. Bokeh doesnt make crappy picture awesome its just the distorted view of many people thinking a photo looks great when there is so much bokeh present...
