EOS Bodies / Re: What Canon Body is threatened buy the Nikon D5200?
« on: January 09, 2013, 02:57:09 AM »
None, after the experiences with the delays, the initial 5d3/24-70ii price and the 6d features it's clear non-Rebel users (who just own the kit lens) very seldom switch and Canon can get away with just about everything - people complain, but that's about it.

I remember when i got into photography the 5d mk2 was announced. People opened threads and complained about it being overpriced and such. Many people came up with "I stick with my old trusty 5d!". When the 5dmk2 was established it was worshipped and like the ultimate camera to get.

And now exactly the same happened when the 5d mk3 came out. "Overpriced, bad DR compared to Nikon" and so on. And now? Yes you guess right...(nearly) everybody thinks the 5dmk3 is such an awesome camera.

Its just complaining cuz people want to complain. Im sure if u are into something else (cars, fishing rods, RC cars, just something) the exact same thing happens in these forums. Good example are World of Warcraft Forums :P Its a major complain fest there but yet the game is played by over 10 Mio people constantly.

Im gonna stick with Canon cuz i like their L lenses and the nifty fifty entry lens which is somewhat legendary.

If i had to care that much about DR +- id probably be a pro with enough money to buy whatever camera i want. For my hobby i think its just ridculous if Id complain about such stuff.

People, seriously? Discussing what your favorite 2 lenses are in the context of a house fire? What next - a thread where you're in a sinking ship and what lenses you'll save?

Whereas some people would take photos in their spare time, some think about what lenses they'll save in case their house burns down. Ha, that's why I love this forum. :P

Its not much different than "Imagine u would be on a desrted island. What would the 2 items (lenses in this case) you would bring with u?"

My house was burglarized last year and much of my photography gear was stolen (along with most everything else of value in my home).

Reminds me of "The best camera you have is the one you left home" :P

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: DxOMark "Perceptual Megapixel"
« on: January 07, 2013, 04:40:29 AM »
The closer u fit the pixels on the sensor near each other the easier noise will start to appear. And any kind of noise even if so subtle means image loss.
In worst case u have a P&S camera with a really tiny sensor with many pixels so close to each other that it will be outresolved by the same sensor with less megapixels.
Some people even say the 1100D has the best IQ in the APS-C line due to this. It just got 12MP but "perceptual MP" is more like 16MP.
But i think this is really not an issue on APS-C or FF sensors. APS-C would be like 60megapixels or such before the pixels come too close to each other.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: BLOWN away.
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:57:28 AM »
Is there anything else that can do this for its size?

old film slrs or rangefinders...cheaper a lot too . p.s. a good lense makes the difference. if the photos would have been taken with a stock lens i would be impressed but not like this.

Lenses / Re: Educate me about why 70mm <> 70mm...
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:43:27 AM »
You can also find this on the 35mm lenses. Samyang one was more like 37mm or such if i remember correctly. Afterall a few mm difference can have a big difference for example compare 24mm and 28mm. Just 4 mm but u can see the difference. I think its not about cheating but just the rules of physics.
Would be really confusing if we had lenses like "36.24mm" or "117.11" and such :D

I got Lowepro 140 AW and there hardly fits more inside than one camera.

Macro / Re: Some nature Macro
« on: January 05, 2013, 05:29:16 AM »
I think these are good for handheld im getting similar results with my flektogon 35mm 2.8. My best advice is just to shoot many photos of the subject :P Blur is very easy to achieve sadly. Id still wish i had the 100mm 2.8 L lens cuz IS will be handy for handheld.
For things on the ground just carry around a big plastic bag (120litre or such) and put it on the ground so u can lay on it when u want to. Saves u from getting dirty and is really really cheap :P
You can also get some kind of mini tripod and have it always attached to your camera. Not hard to carry but they can be quite pricey. Or just take the cheap alternative again and carry around the famous beanbag with u! Yes its just a bag with beans inside but it stabilizes well :P
Get an old small pillow of yours and fill it with beans! There you go :D

samples i shot handheld with told lens (klick for 100%):
