Isnt it common knowledge zoom lenses can never be as sharp as a fixed focal length? Zooms have to make compromises. always. doesnt matter what u pay.

Canon General / Re: Rockwell knocks one out of the park (no kidding)!

Technical wise photography is perhaps the easiest art. It basically just needs ur eyes to work and u gotta be able to press a button on ur camera. Imho most other arts involve some kind of motor skills and/or body control that u dont just have as an average person.

yeaaaah and is there somebody here who never heard "person X shoots great photos cuz the have a great camera" ??...............................

most people know from school singing or any kind of drawing/sculpting isnt so easy :P

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Recommend me a m42->EF adapter
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:55:47 AM »
Im using one without an AF confirm chip and im fine with that. Its just not so useful when u wanna shoot relativly fast moving objects but i think thats what no m42 lens is really good for :)

Id change the price so i could afford it  ::)

Yes, great shots! It also shows what good camera gear can produce. If somebody is rich and nice and wants to donate a free 1D X or any other FF camera to me, feel welcome :3

Actually im more worried about the polar bear than the lens. Im not sure if the metal is so good for his teeth and possible glas shards arent either!

Lenses / Re: Canon fd lenses
« on: October 12, 2012, 01:14:19 PM »
There are no "real" FD to EOS Adapters. Dont let urself get fooled. FD lenses are so long they will hit the mirror (on a FF DSLR). On APS-C they wont hit the mirror but its still not as easy as M42 to EOS.

What u want is a real conversion kit which replaces the FD mount with an EOS mount but they are not cheap.
Good lenses:

50mm 1.2
55mm 1.2

Check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_FD_lens_mount#FD_lenses

Just pick ur favorite focal length and aperture, basically there werent many bad lenses since photography wasnt so mainstream like today .

its way cheaper to just get M42 lenses which really only need some 10$ adapter to work on all EOS cameras. Or just get some old m42 bodies (pentax spotmatic is quite good and widely available).
Most of my lenses are m42 tbh since theyre just so cheap. No prob with manual focussing it just takes some time to get used to it.

I never understood anyway what a photo camera gotta do with shooting videos. Its a gimmick they just added to suck the money out of videographers pockets :(

Lenses / Re: Which Prime: 50L or 35L?

+1 for 50mm 1.2 L. You can just leave it on your camera all day long and have a useful focal length.

Technical Support / 1100D changing focus screen!
« on: October 10, 2012, 04:09:43 AM »

im mostly using manual focus lenses so i wanna change the viewfinder of my 1100D with a split prism manual focussing screen.

Anybody got experience with this? So far ive read 1100D doesnt officially support this but i can find plenty manual focus screens on ebay?

Do i lose the red AF lights or will they still show up if i use an AF lens?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Future of APS-C
« on: October 09, 2012, 03:16:02 PM »
Do you even shoot FF? APS-C in NOT the lousy equivalent to FF. Go ahead and try super tele on FF. You'll see just how lousy it really is to shoot FF compared to a good old 7D!

I didnt say APS-C is lousy. I just prefer fullframe, even i only got an analog FF eos. But im also not using tele lenses often. Mostly im shooting around in the "portrait range"
Imho APS-C just exists cuz its cheaper to produce for now. If digital or analog medium format would be cheaper to get i would also go for it. So for me i just got APS-C cuz FF at the moment is too expensive for me. Besides the crop factor for tele lenses (if u need it) or the price, whats the advantage?

Lenses / Re: Which online-test magazine is testing seriosly?
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:43:18 AM »
I check many random sites and focus my mind on the general overlapping similarities noted in each review to form a temporarily acceptable final image of the impression of a e.g. a certain lens until i hold it in my hands and make my own realization about it. Every human is biased in one way so u wont find the ultimate objectivly testing review. Some things can be measured as pure facts but for example "impression of the bokeh" is way harder to objectivly describe since there are no values u can rely on.

.... :D

EOS Bodies / Re: Looks like the 6D may not be so bad after all
« on: October 09, 2012, 09:40:17 AM »
Be patient and ur next camera purchase will feel really really good :))

The 6D seems quite good for me as an upgrade over my 1100D. I wanna stick to Canon so theres no choice anyway. Camera model doesnt make such an huge impact on the final image anymore the times we live in i think

Hope APS-C really dies out. I just wonder what will be the big difference between the different camera models then? Perhaps single shot only for "entry level FF" cameras? hmm i really wonder
