EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 5d Mark III Shadow recovery
« on: April 02, 2013, 03:20:31 PM »
Not true. There are circumstances where you cannot properly expose all parts of the image due dyanmic range variations in the shooting conditions. You can expose properly for one part or the other and either blow out the highlights or block up the shadows. The lesser of two evils is to expose so the highlights don't get blown and if you still need to you can lift the shadows...this works ok in a lot of circumstances, but not all. In particular,  scenarios where you have larger areas of smooth shadows, pattern noise can become a very real problem that will be visible even on moderate prints sizes.

Nikon shooters never encounter such situations? Doubt so. Anyway i think this happens so rarely its not a real problem.

Am i the only one who thinks about how not-environment-friendly the materials used in cameras are? If it can survive that long in the ocean and is somewhat functional still i dont really wanna imagine how many decades it takes til it totally decomposes. Cameras with no housing obviously survived too.

BUT i also got something personal to add! Even thought a bit different.

I never wear pants with holes in the pockets except once i did. And of course it was the day i put my USB stick in that pocket to get some cheapo printed photos in the nearest store. Turned out my USB stick fell through the hole in my pocket :(
When i walked the way back home i found it! Laying in the middle of an intersection on the street and probably one or more cars ran over it :(
The plastic covering was shattered so i removed it. USB port itself was a little bent, so i unbent it myself.
Turned out the stick still works perfectly and im still using it :D

Flektogon 35mm on my film camera. I just LOVE wideangles even 35mm is not so wide really. I just love taking portraits including the environment and not only "bokehlicious" shots all the time. I was never a fan of tele....wideangle feels so good to me :))
Whenever im back to my crop camera im kinda bothered by the field of view it offers. shame its hard to get a cheap+good IQ wideangle lens on APS-C. Cant wait to use 24mm on film or FF @o@

Windows 7 is Windows XP fixed.

Its more like Vista fixed.

Zooms just dont deliver the same IQ at all focal ranges they offer. Its the culprit of zooms. Theyre ALWAYS a compromise between affordability and IQ. If that doesnt cut it for you then better get primes.

52
If you have noise reduction turned on your camera will take TWO shots with the same exposure. So 20 mins*2 = 40 minutes. The second photo is used to calculate the noise reduction.

Having the balls to get up close and personal to take the shot in the first place is the whole point of street photography...

Yes and its actually much harder to do than i thought. I think 70-300 mm isnt a good street focal range too plus its really noticable carrying such a big lens around. It also looks like a phallic symbol. RUDE! :D

I prefer 35mm and wider cuz it shows that people in context to the environment where they work or whatever. Also i prefer not only bokeh street shots. Sometimes its just the fun to have some 24mm f/8 Street photo with so many details to notice.

5diii got several modes for seelecting focus points. in groups for example. sure it wpuld be hell if the only possibility was choosing each point alone urself :)

The recent cameras are better than your 400D and its noticeable in image quality also. But why sad u are still using your 400D? I think its awesome u still get along with that camera where many other people already threw it away. It seems really nice to me you dont rely on technique but rather your photo skills :)

57
Just wait til u see what u want. Its easy to jump on the "i have to buy a new camera" train but just remember Canon is pumping out new bodies regularly. So if u dont feel satisfied with the new 2013 bodies just wait more. The problem of Canons regular bodie updates also causes the problem that the bodies are really similiar usually so it even makes more sense to wait more to get a real improvement over the camera you have at the moment.
If you really cant control ur money spending then better buy a lens :) They will last much(!) longer than bodies.

Lenses / Re: small primes to go with SL1?
« on: March 22, 2013, 11:58:58 AM »
Wide angle lenses and aps-c dont work well together. You gotta invest a lot of money to get a wide angle view like on FF. Its my main problem about APS-C.

If its just laying around and collecting dust then u better sell it. You will make the buyer a happy photographer dont forget this :)

I heard Leica M digital only uses one zone instead of Canons 63. So what...
