EOS Bodies / Re: 1DX to ship next month.
« on: May 15, 2012, 09:26:46 AM »
I talked to canon tech rep, on 5D3 firmware update.  I asked him when 1DX would ship; he thought next month.

So, if I am right, I have heard mid-June, but here we are 4 weeks from shipping and there is not a single official "we are on track for mid-June" statement from Canon!?! What am I missing?

Also, has Canon USA actually issued a statement regarding mid-June or is that Canon Japan?

Thoughts much appreciated!

The vendor I ordered from confirmed I'm 6th in line, and they had fairly recent confirmation that they will be getting their first shipment May 29th and the second on June 9th.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but if it's true my camera should ship June 10th. :D

Cany anyone else confirm the timetable Zouk set forth above?  Zouk, where are you?

Today I got to use the 1D X and I have some raw files. Not many, because I was not allowed :P ;)

This camera is just... I wanna marry her.

Nikkito, what else can you share about your experience with the 1D X? Did you hear anything else about a release in June?

Crap.  Damn.  $h!T.  F___.

Oh well, my place in the preorder queue won't change, and in the meantime, my 5DII and 7D still take pictures.   ::)

Couldn't have said it better myself, but I AM worried about my place in the pre-order queue.  Since I changed my pre-order from B&H to Amazon on the day it became available on Amazon (for better queue position), I am now worried that Amazon will cancel my pre-order because the camera won't be available for so long. I've seen postings from others claiming they've had pre-orders cancelled in the past when they were pending for more than 30 days.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Delays
« on: April 10, 2012, 09:05:38 AM »
This is the second time this rumour has been posted without any "official announcement" from Canon. Now we are fewer than three weeks from the latest (previously delayed) launch date.  Can anyone explain why, if they know the date will be delayed (and I get that this is still rumor at this stage), Canon does not go ahead and announce the delay?

Is it likely because 1) they could still achieve a late April/early May release, 2) because they haven't yet targeted the next "official" release date, or 3) something else?

The opinions and/or factual experience of anyone with insight into Canon's reasons for delays and announcements in the past would be appreciated.  I can engage in blatant, unsupported speculation myself.  :)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Delayed Again? [CR2]

I am trying not to get too worked up about this particular rumor.  While I have pre-ordered one and am anxious to receive it, it does no good to worry about whether it "might" be delayed. First, there were a number of qualifiers in the rumor itself. The idea that it will be delayed until June is apparently being voiced by some folks, but not "announced" by Canon (at least not yet).

I believe that Canon has every incentive to get the camera to its customers as soon as possible, but as others have said, not if that means releasing it with known problems.

If it is delayed, I will be ticked, but will look forward to getting it when its ready for primetime.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Available at B&H for Preorder

Do you know why they sell cameras like the 7D direct, but not the 1D line?  (Thanks again.)

I'd guess that there's not such a high demand for such an expensive body that Amazon feels it worth stocking them...

So, interestingly enough, Amazon made it available for pre-order earlier today, and the site says it will be sold by and shipped from Amazon.com.  So, I'm going to try ordering from them and dropping my B&H pre-order. I figure I'm higher up the Amazon list cause I got to it "same day."   See http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005Y3T1AI/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=canorumo-20&camp=213381&creative=390973&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B005Y3T1AI&adid=0Q3930KZFWJSSVP4R2X9&&ref-refURL=http%3A%2F%2Frcm.amazon.com%2Fe%2Fcm%3Flt1%3D_blank%26bc1%3D000000%26IS2%3D1%26bg1%3DFFFFFF%26fc1%3D000000%26lc1%3D0000FF%26t%3Dcanorumo-20%26o%3D1%26p%3D8%26l%3Das4%26m%3Damazon%26f%3Difr%26ref%3Dss_til%26asins%3DB005Y3T1AI

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Available at B&H for Preorder

Anyone know how long it usually takes Amazon to make a camera available for pre-order once  B&H and Adorama have done so?  The 1D X is still not available for pre-order on Amazon, and inquiries have yielded no success finding anyone who knows when it will become available.

When the 1D X was first announced, Amazon had a page for it, but it disappeared.  It's worth noting that Amazon themselves don't sell any other 1-series bodies (although 3rd party vendors list them there).  So, Amazon may not even be selling the 1D X...

Thanks for the feedback! Wish I'd known that last night.  I could have gotten into the B&H pre-order queue 24 hours earlier.  Kept thinking Amazon would make it available to pre-order in a day or two, but my past experience and a quick check of the website supported what you said.  Do you know why they sell cameras like the 7D direct, but not the 1D line?  (Thanks again.)
