I am on my way to completing my 2.8 zooms. Just think it is so sharp and I love the way the hood locks on like the 70-200 ii. I had to part with my 24-105 but feel it will be worth it during low light shots. Plus it seems sharp wide open. Just need to learn to live without IS. Anyone else just as happy?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Going to my first wedding the the new 5d3
« on: September 27, 2012, 09:35:05 PM »
I am going to a wedding where all my family will be in. I am not the pro here but my family expects me to get decent shots. I am bringing my 5d3 with 24-105 to travel light with the 600ex. I was thinking using AV starting with f4 and auto iso up to 3200. Any other suggestions?

Hi I am going to a wedding and want to bring my 5d3, 24-105 and 600ex only in the smallest bag possible. Any suggestions?

I have a 5d3 24-105, 70-200 2.8 is ii, 50mm 1.4. I want to start a photography business shooting family portraits at family outings or where ever they want to shoot. I like Candids and would love to go and capture those moments for families like first days at schools, parties, holidays, etc. just not sure how to get started and if I should do some free work to gain experience, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Sorry I am an amateur and have heard that topic a lot lately and was wondering what and how are they achieved?

I currently have a hp envy 17-3d with the 1080p tn panel and it is good but was curious what reasonable desktop setups were being used most importantly monitors that do not cost $1k +. It must be windows sorry but I get all the software free. Also if you use a laptop which model?

Lenses / Need advice on indoor low light lens choices.

I have the following.
Canon 5d3
50 1.4
70-200 f4 is

I just bought the 70-200 f4 is for medium telephoto but still want something for better low light shooting. I ran a program to see my most used focal length and came up with 40,50,85,105.

I was looking at the following lenses for the upcoming holidays. Any suggestions?

24-70 mk ii
35 1.4
135mm f2

Lenses / Considering the 70-200 f4 is for my next lens

Hey I have a dilemma. I have a 5d3 with the following
50 1.4
Various speedlites

I take Candids of the kids but I find myself wanting more reach. I rented the 70-200 f4 is and it was pretty nice. I currently can get it for $1100 from a reputable dealer but unsure if that's a good price or if I should hold out to see what else is offered by canon for the fourth quarter. I also want the 24-70 ii but would have to pay of the 70-200 first if I get it. So add focal range or a stop of light with the 24-70 ii or just wait. Any suggestions?

I have a canon 5d mkiii and I am testing my new 270ex ii for vacation and in tv mode shutter 1/125 iso 400 wb flash eval metering it tries to use 1/3 sec or best I can get is 1/20 at iso 1600. I thought it was my batteries but I recharged them. I put my 430ex ii on and same results. Any suggestions? I should be able to shoot at iso 400 with a speedlite? I even reset all my settings. Very frustrated 2 days from a trip.

PowerShot / Canon G1x or Sony RX100 for vacation and light duty
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:33:26 PM »
I have a Canon 5d Mk iii and am looking for a sidekick for quick outings and vacations. I have come to the Canon G1x but it's size is a little big or the Sony RX100 which looks promising. I want dslr like IQ and semi small package otherwise it's no better than a CSC. Anyone have any input would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning toward the Sony since it's actually pocketable and has a macro mode. I do like how the G1x has been said to have low end rebel quality and has a hot shoe. I am torn. Help.

Lenses / Recommendations for vacation lenses and gear

Going with my family to San Diego zoo, sea world, Disneyland,  beach, etc.

I have canon 5d3, 24-105, 50 1.4, 430 ex ii.

Was looking for a good bag choice with easy access.
Also considering 70-200 f4 is can get new for $900. Tempting
40mm pancake for close to 35mm coverage at least at 2.8 and it would be light.
Only considering the 270 ex ii for flash
Possibly g1x for smaller pics and the beach day.

Any help would be appreciated as I am going in about 45 days.

Lenses / Looking for travel zoom
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:53:59 PM »
I am going on vacation with my new canon 5d3 with kit lens. I was considering the 70-300 is non l for a lightweight zoom. Anyone have any success with it or should I consider only the 70-200 f4 is l which is larger and heavier. I want to travel light. Any help is appreciated.

I am going to San Diego and disneyland soon and want to carry my gear on my trip. I have the following:
Canon 5d3
24-105 with hood
50mm 1.4 hood
70-200 f4 is with hood (buying soon)
extra battery
430 ex ii
270 ex ii

I was used to the lowe pro sling shot 102AW but since going full frame now everything is bigger. I need to be able to stash the camera and grab it when a photo op comes up quickly so I would need to be able to stow the worst case scenario 5d3 with 70-200. The only ones I have found are the lowe pro 302aw which seems so big for a sling or the fastpack 350 but does not seem so well received. I have looked at the flipside but it seems so hard to spin the bag around just to take out the camera.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I have the Canon 5d3 with kit 24-105 and a 50 1.4. I want to tape their short graduation. Any suggestions on a less manual approach so I can get a decent video and not screw it up. Like what fstop would be good for a small 10 person class and ipb vs all-i, etc. It will be sunny but under a tent so I was thinking of some sort of auto iso or sticking with 1000. Any help would be appreciated plus should I do live, face det, for modes. Does IS enabled help or hurt? Sorry about the questions but I am under the gun and could use some guidance.
