EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5d Mark iii noise at 1600
« on: May 12, 2012, 01:52:36 PM »
I don't see those levels of noise on my MKIII.

I'm sure the camera can take the 6fps. Just get your phone, make the chronographer to run, and press the shutter, look at the photos, and you will see how many photos you take a second. With a fast card (1000x) I can take about 18 in raw at 6fps, then goes down to about 4 until the card is full.

Now if you are selecting a subject difficult to focus, and your multi shot preference is set to focus priority and not release priority, it will reduce the speed as expected to first focus, then release. I also have a 7D and in not better focusing, not even close, I tested with every single lens I have and the 5D MKIII smokes it...

I have taken photos like that with the MKIII and I've not seen a problem like that.

From BH site.

All items sold by B&H are warranted solely by the manufacturer/distributor, except "direct import" a/k/a IMP items. All items needing repair (other than IMP) should be sent to the manufacturer/distributor directly for service. B&H is not liable if the manufacturer/distributor fails to perform warranty service

You need to send it to Canon, being in warranty they will even cover the shipping I believe. But BH would take it back for a return or exchange of the whole thing, since you bought two, they give you 30 days to return anything, but cameras need to have less than 200 photos according to their "small letter" on the returns.

I bought once a lens that arrived not working correctly and they took it back even paid the shipping, so that sort of contradicts what it says on their website. So you can give it a try, but as it is already 30 days.....

You must be covered in any way. Hope you get it solved soon. Don't wait, it is not normal.

I've seen it it filters that are thick at 24mm but is usually the same on each corner.

It's normal, google offset printing method. It's how rotary printers work. No bug, no issues. Check on a newspaper that's printed in color, will look the same only dots may be bigger. When looking at a photo of something like that not at 100% on a computer screen will have moire unless you run a descreen filter in Photoshop or Lightrom.

I also believe that if one start a topic like this one, saying that "The camera does not live to MY expectations" instead of " The camera does not live to the expectations" You might get some different reaction.... Is a little semantic difference, but that way you are not generalizing. You are just expressing your opinion of how the camera fels to you, and not telling everyone that the camera they bought is bad. Which can generate some hard feelings against your opinion..

Of course, the nature of forums, there will be always willing to bash anyone just for the sport  :'(

How many professional (add industry) still use PCs?

At our shop.... Just my department, the ratio is 1 MAC every 10 PCs....

So then you are using the contrast autofocus... As long as you have Anouilh live that should work... But is very slow. As you noticed  :D

You mention on the title you where in live view? If you are, aren't you focusing with the contrast focus? Instead of the regular focus? Was rasing the mirror when focusing? O staing in live mode?

Isn't the best camera always the one on your hand at the right moment? All this crazy numbers are just that... Numbers, are not going to make the photographer any better or any richer, you are not going to sell a copy of your photo because was shot with the best sensor, I've seen amazing photos taken with disposable cameras that I wish I've taken with my state of the art equipment....

I undertstand you are spending good amount of money and want the best for it, me too... But isn't this going a bit too far? Just wondering where to draw the line between using a camera to express feelings as a form of art, or just being a technical obsessed photographer.

EOS Bodies / Re: I just bought a 5dmk2 new. was it a good buy?

It's a great camera... I got an MKIII and sold my MKII and I'm sort of regretting selling it... Would love to have 2 bodies again and I might buy one again if Canon does not announce any big MP camera for next year.

As far as I know, renters insurance will not cover anything one you leave your home.
