I've been lucky enough to travel to Ireland twice in the last 3 years.  Even more lucky that everyday I was there it was sunny!
Back then I only had a Canon T2i and the kit lens.  I have to go back and take new pictures with my 5D Mark III and my 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses.  Those are the only lenses I have and I'd be happy with those 2 lenses if I were to travel there again.

The price for the 5d III dropped?  Damn! They should fire the CEO of Canon's DSLR Division for this one also.

My first SLR was a T2i.  Had it for about a year because then I bought a 5d Mark III and I love it.  To me it's well worth the investment even though I'm sure I'm not using the 5DIII's full potential.

Make sure to bring a c polarizing filter for the 70-200.  Can't always control the time of day or direction you shoot from. Chances are water will be in a lot of shots Tried Shooting windsurfers in Maui without one and nothing but water glare. Bought one went back the next day around the same time and got great shots.

Especially at noon.  My circular polarizer did wonders for my pictures.

I was in Oahu early May.  Started a thread asking of what places to go, etc, etc.
As far as gear, I only took what I have...5d Mark III, 24-70mm f.2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 I.  Ah, and a compact light tripod.

I'd say bring lots of extra batteries!  From what I've heard batteries die quickly in cold weather.

I have a Pro Runner 350AW.  The most I've fit in the bag are my 5d Mark III, 24-70mm f2.8 lens, 70-200mm f2.8 lens, lens hoods for each lense, flash, battery charger, filter boxes.  But then again, that's all the equipment that I have.

Black Rapid System. Never looked back since.

+1 for the Black Rapid System.  The only problem that I have with it is when I'm carrying my backpack and then there's no way for me to use the Black Rapid strap.  I can attach my camera to my Kata backpack's straps but then it is a pain in the butt to take off the backpack because you have to remove the camera straps.

I bought a Sirui T-025 5-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head a couple of months ago.
It is very light and it did the job during my last trip.
The only thing is that it is not a "tall" tripod.

well, yeah, I mean, I did some post processing to the pics obviously but the conditions were great for capturing the real color of the water.  It was close to noon and the polarizer worked great.
It was windy, yes.  some days it rained also.  It'd be cloudy, rain and then the sun would come out and then back to being cloudy.

Hello everybody.  I'm back from my trip to Hawaii.  Thanks everybody for your suggestions/comments.

If you're getting good results with the 77mm Hoya, why not get another Hoya?
All my filters are Hoya. hehehe
