Lenses / Re: canon T2i + Zeiss 50mm macro planar ZE - Question
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:35:57 AM »
it's micro contrast, that's turning you off, I have the 35f2 ZE and it's sharper than my 35L at f2 but you get a lot of micro contrast just the way Zeiss is made.

Canon General / Re: I have a question about wedding photography
« on: May 13, 2012, 11:48:08 AM »
woah that was a lot of replys fast.

thanks for ALLLLL the feedback.
to respond to some of the feedback, I work in Advertising as an Art Director for an ad agency, and usually clients want Porcelin skin or almost barbie like skin, so thats my background, photography is a side project of mine :) but i did work as a film compositor so my education is a MA and a BA in Compositing / visual effects.
First of, most people seem to like the composition in the picture, but not the softness of the edit. ( i appriciate cretive critisism so by all means- thanks)

Someone posted a link to a wedding shoot - but when i clicked it all i saw was pictures of something completely different? can someone repost this please i'd Love to see some other wedding photographers work.. very much.!

here's a little side note, I normally dont soften my images THAT much, the problem, if you will - is that the bride
has TERRIBLE agne, her skin is like a pizza.. im not kidding..
so my fiance, who works for Redken as a make up and hair artist, did the make-up and Hair for the wedding, what she did was that she airbrushed her face - with a make-up Airbrush. .. to get rid of the agne.. i just added a little extra..  I would love to share this before and after picture with you guys actually:

hot dang, lots of layers in PS >:( , Thank God for the Spot Healing Brush Tool!! :-\ but you should never post your clients face without their approval of some sort/

After using Photoshop since 19 years and After Effects since 16 years, similar to the rest of the suite (before I bought all separately), I do not see an advantage in Cs6, as I use 3D tracking applications and one of the bigger 3D packages. I'm rather disappointed.

I might jump this real ease, as I'm quite happy with Cs5.

Photoshop seems more like a patchwork with parts of all the other applications in the Production suite and Lightroom, I can't really see (for my personal use) anything that I need, and pay $700 for the update (ProductionSuite).

The Blur tool is a nice toy, and the name Tilt-Blur shows me that the developers have no idea how a shift lens work. These fakes are cheap, from my point of view. Honestly, the package-design doesn't meet my taste either, which is a minor point, but the Ps box looks rather ugly.

Sorry Adobe you missed to adress my needs: 32bit/channels with no exceptions, it is a long time that "we" ask for that! See you in 2013 or 2014 hopefully with a production ready Cs7.

they are quite vocal about 64 bit at the start when they released CS5, it runs good at 16GB of RAM :-[

I'm getting ready in the next month or so, to pull the trigger on my first DSLR and get the 5D Mk3.

For photo editing software...I'm torn.

I have a newer macbook pro....and I was looking to upgrade from iPhoto to Apeture..which is only $80.

Can someone tell me what advantages I'd have dropping $700 on Adobe Photoshop over Apeture? From my brief research and reading, they appear to be at least similar in function....

Can anyone give me the +'s and -'s of each in comparison to each other?

I'm also looking at FCPX vs the Adobe products (Lightroom, and not sure which others)....again, $300 vs for the big package of Adobe products...over or near a $1K....

Adobe descriptions and the site confuse me a little, especially with respect to the video editing software..so many parts and many seem to overlap in functionality.

Anyway, not trolling, but I'd like some honest opinions on which way to go, especially if someone can point out specific items on the Adobe products that justify such a high markup vs the Apple products...

Thank you in advance,

cayenne

$199.00 for upgrade, that's if you have CS4 to CS5. not bad considering the beta was smoother than CS5 the new engine is good, cleaned up the GUI, i noticed it does not use a lot of resource, i would prefer it over LR4 or any other photo editing programs. learning curve takes a while but if you get into it you wont look back. you can buy a CS3 on the cheap and it's still a good one.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Sorry 5D3, Insufficient Value
« on: April 23, 2012, 05:11:10 AM »
I have been a Canon shooter for about 15 years.  Canon film, Rebel, now with the 40D since 2008. The upgrades coming from Canon have been incremental and minor. Nikon a few years ago went big time with upgraded bodies. I still don't see the value in upgrading from 40D to 7D. Sure the body is nicer, but not worth it. The 5D MKIII is a failure. The ones who bit and paid that much money for it have to justify and auto convince themselves that it is worth it. Not in my books. I will be selling my lenses, don't have any L glass, but a number of mid-of-the-road ones and primes. Will be getting rid of Canon because even their flagship 5D MKIII is a half-asses upgrade over the 5D MKIII at a very high price. Why can't they do things right and get us some nice bodies like Nikon does? We don't have another 100 years to wait around! I don't carry about brands, but quality and price!

Nikon Troll Soldier :-[ , you've been living off the nuclear power plant nearby, make sure Sarah and Jesse get a deep down clean, hear!!!

not stressing mate! I have not burned $3500 for the body! the only interesting picture that I see in your posting is the one with the buggy - but again, any camera who shots in RAW - you can post process the images and do HDR to get nice textures and pleasing dynamics in the pic!

can't we just enjoy something that folks are posting for crying out loud, isn't taking photos should be fun and not be so critical of someones work.

great stuff i like picture 1 with the muzzle flash! :)
