EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Cannot Keep Screwing It's Customers Over
« on: December 21, 2012, 05:46:24 PM »
If I knew the camera would drop almost $1000 since release, I would have waited.
If I knew that I could purchase the camera for the same price that I did(at release) now, and get a free L lens... I would have waited
Point is, I believe that these price drops occured too soon.

Honestly, how many of you purchase items that drop this much of a price in 6 months?
when I purchase an iPhone, its the same price until... the next iphone comes out.

The flat screen TV that I purchased for $1500 when it came out almost a year ago, is till $1200

I tried to sell mine for 3,000 on CL a few weeks ago. Didn't get one single bite.
they are going for about 2800 around here. Many of them claiming to be unopened boxes

I feel horrible! 25% in a few months smh

Sounds to me like someone who is trying to sabotage a damn near perfect reputation of magic lantern. Seems a bit like a troll to me

I should have waited to purchase mine smh. The price of this camera seems to be dropping quicker than a brand new vehicle. Almost 15% since release.

EOS Bodies / Re: Lasers Can Damage Your Sensor
« on: August 16, 2012, 08:14:58 PM »
This has been known about for quite sometime. I believe it has to be in liveview as well when the laser hits it.

Im just curious how canon would handle a warranty repair on such instance as there is certainly no warnings from them about the possibility of this happening. So would it be user area and no free fix/replacement from canon?

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Price Drop

I knew I should have waited  >:(
I've even seen it as low as 2800.
A canon authorized dealer were selling them not too long ago on ebay with the battery grip and memory card for 3200 and change SMH.

such a huge price drop in such short time. I really wish I would have waited.

And I don't like to read the lamentations about "D600 is better than the new Canon FF" - both do not exist in our hands and we cannot compare them really. And ... I have spent a lot of money in some glass for the Canon EF mount - switching to Nikon is not a matter of saving (hypothetically) 500$/EUR, its to buy a lot of Nikkors ... oh, impossible, I cannot replace all the glass I need because Nikon has not these options ...

I agree, too much spec racing going on and we dont have confirmation yet, the D600 could end up being the same price for all we know.  And the D800 feels so cheap I'd be scared to see what a $1500 D600 felt like, probably all plastic and flimsy as crap.
One of the major differences between the 5d2 and 5d3 is the autofocus. That to me is the reason why the 5d3 costs 1500 more. Although this entry level full frame wont have an AF as good as thre 5d3, it is rumored to be an upgrade from the 5d2. So why isn't it worth the same price as the 5d2 again?  Basically the only difference between the 5d2 and 5d3 is the AF and thats worth $1500 in that case. but this AF UPGRADE isn't worth the same price? Im lost. and this is coming from a 5d3 owner.

get the mrk iii with the latest Tech. You will loose some reach, but iq, fps, and 61pts af are great. One less body to carry around.
Cortection. IQ (sharpness, DR, e.t.c) is exactly the same between the 5D2 and 5D3, unless you are into shooting above ISO 3500.I say skip the 5D3. Improved AF and FPS alone is not worth it.

"Cortection. IQ (sharpness, DR, e.t.c) is exactly the same between the 5D2 and 5D3" ==> Base on what? Let me guess....DP told you ;D

"unless you are into shooting above ISO 3500" ===> So why do you want mrk II AGAIN???

Have you try mrk III yet? Better AF, faster frame rate, and better ISO(low light)...pls don't tell me these features are NOT worth it.

Not to mention that it would be an investment(dictated by current market rates). I'd say, make the trade... If you don't like it. Sell it to purchase your old gear again(while gaining a 500 dollar profit)

As far as the camera swap, the 7d can be had for 1,000, the 5d2 can be had for about 1800. So in retrospect, you're paying about 2800 for a 3500 dollar body.

I wonder what the issue is...
Maybe it was the same problem that I had.
I inserted disk in my laptop(running 10.6.8 It tried to read the disk(I suppose) and then ejected.
Tried a few more times and the same thing. Tried inserting in a couple of audio disks that I have, and they worked fine!
The canon disk DID install fine on my iMac(also running 10.6.8).
What I ended up doing was just copying the files from the disk onto my external drive(using my imac) and then installed from the external onto my laptop.

Is everyone with this issue running a Mac Laptop?
Also, does the disk eject itself after the laptop trying to read it?

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Good, well priced monitor?
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:52:52 PM »
I like the Zacuto stuff but you've got to be at eye level with the camera at all times.

I was talking about the electronic viewfinder, not the Z-Finder, you can position the EVF any way you want.
just looked. At 1,000 dollars=not too tempting. I do find it funny how these folks have these small monitors at 1,000 dollars when I can get about 40 more inches for the same price and view more than just a camera on them lol...

I'm thinking about maybe the DP4. Just seems like a bit waste of money for less than 1 more inch than the cameras LCD has.
