Software & Accessories / Batteries....
« on: April 22, 2012, 03:24:14 PM »
I''ve heard that there was an online retailer on amazon selling fake batteries for the 5d3. Well, theres someone selling the batteries for an ok price in my city on craigslist. They are brand new in unopened packages. With that said, how can I verify their authenticity?

OK I had to cover the viewfinder lol. It did change exposure. Oh well...

Make sure you have the shutter button down half way so that it is constantly calculating the exposure when you do the back light.  You can also do a search for "5d mark iii light leak videos" that will show how it is done.

I did that as well...
I guess Im clear of this issue :-)

So when i take video, it looks like its in focus, and when i upload it to the computer, some clips are in focus and some aren't... is anyone else having these issues??? or is there a trick that i am missing? when i try the autofocus, it looks way out of focus, so i try to do it manually... thanks for any help

So I put it on the AV mode with lens cap on. Exposure is zerod out. then I turned on the backlight for the top LCD screen. Nothing changed. Did I do everything correct>? If so, mine must not have the issue

best site ever!

They do free live course every weekend almost. You can also purchase the courses in HD to watch later for $99(during live showing) or 150 or something like that after the live airing.

If you're into fashion and beauty
check out the Matthew Jordan Smith class

Theres many on there that are amazing, but I have a few favorites that just teach and inspire me like crazy

What steps must I take to find out if my camera has the light leak issue?

EOS Bodies / Anyone recieved damaged 5d3 bodies?

Has anyone here ordered the 5d3 online and recieved a body with any kind of damage? Im just curious to know. If so, who did you order from, and what was damaged?

Im kind of new at this photography thing and don't want to really hold onto a cam that might have issues that I may only find out about later.

Glad you found it out, it wasn't apparent that you missed that step.
You can also press the info button and then the AF point selection button on the top right back corner and see and adjust them on the rear lcd.

lol yea Im slow. when I unchecked the focus options in the menu, I thought that I was changing the autofocus lol

Your focus is probably shifting because you have AI Servo on. That is for tracking objects. You can switch to AI Focus or just the regular focus. Its in the manual. You can change focus types by pressing the mf function button on the top of the camera. The mf function button will only change modes after you press the focus select on the back top right of the camera. Also in the manual.

Thankyou so much!!!!
I was in the actually menu checking and unchecking the focus options. What I didnt realize was, what I checked and unchecked wasn't what the camera used, it was just the options the camera had when choosing focus options(by clicking mf function button) so now I know, they way to change how the camera actually focuses is to use the mf function button lol...

I've got the nifty fifty lens on, and for some reason, when I try auto focusing about a quarter of the times it just keeps shifting(a small bit) but it never actually focuses. Why is that? I keep thinking Im too close to the subject but even when I back up it does the same thing

Guess I should mention I live in the USA in Los Angeles...

I have had the same issue, and on sunday Adorama had some in stock, got my order in and they shipped on monday. Others called monday and they were already sold out. I had noticed they listed 12 on ebay friday and it seemed to make sense they had others in stock. You may want to watch the adorama on ebay and see when they list again. It worked for me. Free shipping and no tax paid at the time of order. I'm in Ca. as well.
I was waiting for B&H but gave up. I normally order all my stuff through them. This was my first order with Adorama. So far so good. Time will tell but they seem to have a solid history like B&H. Hope this helps.

I think they are sold out because of me :-( I ordered on saturday, then placed a comment in a few threads stating they had them in stock. The next day they were sold out

Im curious as to how I use spot AF on the 5d3? I went to the menu and took the check mark off everything but 'spot AF' and the one next to it. But for some reason the one next to it I can't uncheck. So when I go to select an AF point when shooting, instead of selecting a small dot, Im only allowed to select one of the squares.
