Ohh, ok!

So then it is just the focusing issues that I need to overcome before ordering one :)

Thanks for all the comments! This photo was a part of a series of shots I took of the girl talking to her horse, I liked this the best simply because the horse happened to have his eyes closed at this time. It kind of looks like the horse is enjoying the kiss, even though he most probably doesn't understand the concept of kissing :)

I have also worked a bit with the colours to achieve a more "artsy" look, the originals are deeper blue, rather than greenish like this version. To be perfectly honest, I didn't really spend much time thinking about the technical aspects of this photo, I just set the aperture to 2.8 and made sure I had a blue sky (without trees etc) behind the subjects. This photo was also printed on canvas and is currently hanging on a wall :)

When you guys talk about lens profiles, is that for the in-camera correction or some kind of preset for Photoshop?

Is there any available from 5D Mark III. This lens is definitely interesting, but the distortion is a tad bit off-putting.

Lenses / Re: IS Versions of the 50mm, 85mm & 135mm Coming? [CR1]

An updated budget 85 would definitely be interesting. I would rather see a 85 f/1.8 or f/1.4 than one with IS added, simply because I would use it more or less exclusively for daylight/well lit portraits.

Right now, my kit is missing a good lens for portraits, 24-70II gives me good results, but f/2.8 does not really provide the shallow DOF I would like on some occasions.

When I was working in Belize (with conservation, not photo), I had a 5D2 with 24/1.4L II with be on several short expeditions in the jungle. The lens would fog up all the time, both front and back element, this wasn't much of a problem, I just wiped it off. The problem was that moisture got into the 5D2, specifically under the shutter button which meant that it acted as if the button was half-way pressed all the time. Once I took the camera out of the forest and into my apartment, it dried up and started working normally again.

Now I have the 5D3 which I think is better proofed.

Lenses / Re: Canon 40mm f/2.8 Lens: Thoughts? Reviews? Is it worth getting?

I bought mine just when it came out and I've been using it as a less conspicuous travel lens on my 5D3. I had it in Guatemala for 14 days last December. IQ is quite good - irrelevant of the price.

I have both, I just got the 24-70ii last week and I love it so far. I'm currently trying to sell the 24/1.4ii, mainly because I need the money but also because I have no use for it anymore. I like to shoot landscapes and apertures below 2.8 is not tremendously useful for that anyway.

Lenses / Re: Sell 24/1.4L II and 70-200/f4L IS for 24-70 II or not?

I will buy one, I was suppose to get a Heliopan HT, those are without filterthreads in front, and that is essential, the thinner the filter the less it affects vignetting, and the 24-70 mk2 is bad with vignetting, really bad imo.

You turn for every shot almost, well, not all, but if you flip the camera from horisontal to vertical, you need to turn to get the effect, but this goes without thinking after a short while.

DO NOT use a pol-filter as a replacement for a protector or UV, because it steals at least one stop of light, so might as well get a 24-105 instead.  :P

I love pol filters, but beware of 24mm and pol filter, you will get very uneven polarization, still, I try to do a compromise and use it anyway,

Yeah, that actually why I never got one for my 24/1.4. I guess I will just get the B+W MRC UV, perhaps the slim version to protect the big and juicy front element :)

However, I haven't manage to get the two lenses sold yet. I guess it will be even harder to get the prime sold when people realize that the 24-70 is on the same level/better apart from the f/1.4.

Use lack of vignetting and distortion as an argument to sell the 24, because at that it's much better. I still think 2.8 dof is a little too much, the AF and corner performance of the 2479 outweighs that a lot.

It took me a while to find the right AF settings with it and the 70-200, because they're SO fast the settings I used for my other lenses didn't work. I really like case 4 and -1 on sensitivity with those two lenses taking pictures of my kids.

TBH, I haven't spent much time trying out the different cases for the AF. I've been happy with case 1 but perhaps I should check out the others as well. I rarely shoot anything that moves fast.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) use polarizing filters with the 24-70 and in that case, which? So far, I have only been using B+W MRC UV for protection and I will probably get one for the 24-70 but I'm considering getting a pol filter instead. As I have never used one, how much "work" does it take, i.e. do I need to turn the filter for every shoot to make sure it looks nice (angle to the sun, I understand how it works :).

Would you recommend a pol. instead of a standard UV for this lens?
