Reviews / Re: Review - EF 24 f/1.4L II
« on: March 23, 2013, 12:57:29 PM »
I use my 24/1.4 II as my primary lens on my 5D3, and before that on my 5D2.

I use the 40/2.8 when I want something more narrow and the 70-200 f/4L IS for tele. Next purchase will definitively be 135/2.

Then it is probably reasonable to assume the same "new" 18MP sensor in 700D.

Hi,

I'm currently volunteering for a local, community-oriented conservation NGO in southern Belize, C.A. The organization is funded on a project basis and has very limited funding for buying "fancy" camera equipment such as a DSLR. Do you guys think there is any chance that Canon would be interesting in donating a basic, lets say 650D with 24/2.8 and a macro, to our organization or are we better of trying to contact resellers directly? The camera will be used by our rangers to take pictures of plants they find the the nature reserve they manage and by our volunteer botanist.

This one was taken by my father in Iceland a few weeks back, he doesn't have an account, nor is he a member of any other site but I think this one should be shown. It is currently hanging on the wall, 40x100cm canvas.

5D2/70-200/4IS

5D2, nothing to think about, especially not with the current price.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 3D at 46.1mp Next Month? [CR1]

Does Canon even make a lens that can resolve 46MP?

This. I assume they will have to replace 85/1.2, 50/1.2, 35/1.4 and 24/1.4 (the latter not likely anytime soon ofc).

Still thinking that that hood looks stupid  ;D

It looks alright like this, but when the lens is fully extended, that looks stupid! :)

I just got my 40mm/2.8 for my 5D3, that looks stupid as well: http://blog.erikhammar.se :)

Lenses / Re: 24mm F/1.4L II or 24mm-70mm F/2.8 II

Interesting thread, I have a 5D3 and the 24/1.4II and was just thinking about the possibility of switching to the new zoom if it, in fact is sharper than the prime. I would like something more versatile, even though I use my prime mainly for landscape and street. I also like to shoot at night, so f/1.4 is nice to say the least.

I just ordered the 40mm to use when I want to be more discrete (good luck with the 5d3).

Too many decisions!

$2499

You think? How about Canon being a little friendly for once and consider the poor L-lens users :)

If  this lens becomes reality and is decently priced and optically awesome, I would definitely swap it for my 70-200 f/4 IS.

Would be nice with a fixed f/2.8 for the zoom, or at least a fixed f/4.

Probably a boooring 3.5-5.6.

Landscape / Re: Feedback on portfolio
« on: July 11, 2012, 11:14:54 PM »
Thanks for your comments, I removed the portrait which had visible distortion. I really didn't think of it before you mentioned it. I'm planning to acquire a 135/2 for portraits, the two B&W (octavio and antonio) was taken at 200mm with the zoom.

I will probably remove a couple more of the portraits, just want a little diversity in the portfolio - not just landscapes.

I am also planning to upload larger resolution of the enlargements, some already are as big as I intend them all to be (the size of the horse picture).

Thanks again!

Landscape / Feedback on portfolio
« on: July 11, 2012, 09:58:31 PM »
Hey guys, I was looking for a more general forum (not specialised in any category) but this will do since many of my images are landscape.

Anyway, I am putting together a portfolio (using wookmark+lightbox2) where I will put my best pictures, not necessarily to market myself but rather as a more permanent place than Flickr. I have already removed about half of the pictures I initially put up after some initial feedback. I guess you will have more ideas on pictures to remove, either because not really good (something I want you to tell me) or simply doesn't fit in a portfolio.

http://erikhammar.se/portfolio/

I have avoided cats and dogs which I understand is very important.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions!

EDIT: Most pictures are taken with 5D2/5D3+24/1.4L II+70-200f/4L IS, a few with Fuji X100

The TC's are considered "L" lenses and are at Mark III now.

Alright, except from the TC's :)

Lenses / Which L lens will be the first mark III?
« on: July 09, 2012, 10:44:25 AM »
Just something that hit me while reading the last post about 24-70 IS.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the most updated current L lenses are mark II, right? I am just counting lenses that has a "II" in its name, not stabilized/non-stabilized lenses.

Which of the current L mark II lenses do you think will be the first to be updated and receiving the mark III designation. There is one shitty EF-S kitlens currently in mark III?

My bet would be 85/1.2L III.
