EOS Bodies / 5DM3 Firmware Update

I'm very excited for this update if it will help with super low-light focusing (when using the assist from the speedlites).

However, I'm not sure how these updates are downloaded/installed.  I've never done this before.  Is it something which is downloaded via computer, placed onto my CF/SD card and then, once it's placed back into the camera it recognizes the new file?  EOS Utility, maybe?

How many of you guys/gals have done this before?  Is it difficult?

Speedlites, Printers, Accessories / Lightroom 4 and .CR2 files from 5DM3 and 7D - Can't Import!!

I'm getting error msgs when I try to import .CR2 files into LR4.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I have read on some other blogs that it has started occuring with files from 7D and 5DM3.  I only own the 5DM3, and it's never worked. 

I'm shooting with the jpeg+RAW setting and the jpegs are importing fine.  However, the beauty of LR4 is what it can do with light and color, and with RAW out of the picture, why use it? 

Can anyone help?

Lenses / Shooting a Rock Concert. Which Lens(es)?

I've been shooting for years, but this will be my first rock concert.  I'm wondering on lenses.  What should I plan for?  (no flash photography, of course)  Here's my gear:

Body: 
5DM3

Lenses:
24-105 f4
50 f1.4 and 1.2
70-200 f2.8 IS II USM
Sigma 12-24 f4

If there's one on the list I really should have, post your suggestions and I can grab a rental.  I was figuring that I'd probably be using my 50 and 70-200 the most.

What do you all think?

Lenses / New Wide Angle Lens Ideas, please!

Here's my current lens list:

(body: 5DM3)

50mm f1.4
24-105 f4
70-200 f2.8 IS II USM

I'm realizing that I need a wider angle than 24mm (on the 24-105).  I've dropped some nice coin into my body and lenses so far, so I'd like to stay under about $600 for a good 12mm+ (preferably to about 24mm) zoom lens.  I figure that should set me up for a good range of lengths.  Everything I've used has been Canon brand but I'm open to other brands if they work well.  I used to borrow a Sigma 10-20mm for my crop sensor body, but I'd prefer to get something for FF and actually OWN it rather than count on my friend not needing it.

I do mainly portraiture, weddings and events.

Hey, does anyone use Ring Lights for portraits?  If so, LED or what kind?  I'd appreciate some suggestions from anyone who's used one or has an opinion.

Lenses / Rebate Ending Soon? When's The Next One?

I guess what I'm wondering is whether there's a chance that there might be an extension on the Canon rebates.  I'm waiting for my tax return to show up and I'm pretty sure it won't make it before Saturday.

If it ends, when will there be another one?  $400 off of that 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM mkII is looking nice - I'd hate to lose it!

Hi Everyone!  I'm trying to discover how you guys all make your photo books.  I'm starting to get into this heavily and I want to stay away from the Shutterfly/MPIX gimmicks and create truly custom works for my clients.

Ideas?  Are there any great online companies who can help me get started?  I need really custom stuff without the involuntary bar codes and branding.  I'm guessing...create pages in Photoshop and then send them off to a printer/binder?  Any other options such as websites which offer customizable templates and non-branded printing?

Please help!

Lenses / Looking for a EF 70-200 IS USM II. Used is fine. Ideas?

I'm dying to get this lens.  Any leads/ideas/wisdom on how/where to get one?  Good Condition (used) would be okay.  I'm shooting on the 5DM3 and I understand this lens SINGS on this body!

I've looked on various rental sites to buy their old rentals, and for the amount of usage those lenses get, they're only knocking off about $100 dollars from a new one.  I'd rather just spend the extra $.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  THX!

Lenses / Canon 70-200 f2.8 II or Sigma's 70-200mm f2.8?

I got my 5DM3 (freakin' LOVING it!) and now I'm looking into some more great glass.  I just figured that I'd save up for the Canon version of this lens (70-200 f2.8 IS II USM)   but found the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 APO EX HSM OS and wanted to know if anyone owns this lens and what they think of it?  Any regrets?

I see LOTS of reviews (all very positive) for this camera, but one that said the non-weather sealing (which the Canon lens has) might make a big difference.

Is the $1,300 in savings worth it?  I figured that I might just put that extra chedda into another Prime.  What are your thoughts?
