EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D L Announced, Shipping in May
« on: April 01, 2013, 02:46:29 PM »
First reaction: Why the "L"?
Second reaction: Why is it reversed??
Third reaction: "You got me."

EOS Bodies / Re: What is missing from the 7DII specs

Higher ISO - not as in 'available as a setting' but as in 'useable with low noise'.  IMO this is unlikely unless Canon fundamentally changes their sensor fab tech, but at least 1-stop and preferably more.  If ISO 8000 on a 7DII looks like ISO 3200 on the 7D, I'll most likely buy one. AF at f/8 and a multicontroller on the grip would cinch the deal.
That would be a very fascinating thing to see if Canon pulls it off!

EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 7D Mark II Test Camera [CR1]

How much of a disadvantage would the 7D Mark II be at if it, indeed, had 19 AF points instead of 61?

Lenses / Re: New 100-400 to Launch with EOS 7D Mark II [CR2]

So will the 200-400 and 100-400 be released/announced around the same time, then?
Seems like Canon is holding back many products, yet the public knows about very few of them.
The price on the Nikon will definitely trigger Canon to give it an even higher price...

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 DG OS HSM Delayed

Certainly the range on this lens (with the constant aperture) will be the main factor that will attract photographers not really into Sigma products. Sigma is raising the bar with its recent products.

Canon would be taking on Nikon directly with this news.
And with the 7D Mark II having this technology, it'll only be pleasing to those who've been waiting for it for a while.

Totally forgot about the 200-400, as if it was already announced. This doesn't make sense, unless Canon are waiting to announce with the 7D Mark II. I can see it happening.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Announces the EOS T5i
« on: March 22, 2013, 01:09:16 AM »
Without significant differences, I'm guessing this will appeal mostly to those who are "new" to the DSLR scene.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS Rebel T5i Leaks
« on: March 20, 2013, 01:06:45 PM »
There isn't much of a difference in the T5i specs than the T4i (and even the "EOS-b"). I'm assuming Canon will have to change the name of the "Rebel" series for the new generation of consumer DSLRs.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-b Images Leak & a New Kit Lens

EOS-b??? Well, this was quite unexpected. Canon did well with hiding this until it got leaked!

How sure can one be that the performance for the Canon mount is very similar to the Nikon mount?

PowerShot / Re: Canon PowerShot SX280 HS

DIGIC 6 to appear first in a PowerShot??
I guess this correlates with the DIGIC 5, as well.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 100D Detailed Specs Appear
« on: March 17, 2013, 11:35:51 PM »
I wonder how Canon reacts to these kinds of mishaps on retailer websites. Do they send out warnings or just choose to ignore it?

EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 100D Coming? [CR1]
« on: March 16, 2013, 11:33:51 AM »
Well, this is quite unexpected... The name gives the impression of it being similar to the 1100D, which makes no sense.

Lenses / Re: TS-E 45mm & TS-E 90mm Finally Getting Replaced? [CR1]
« on: March 15, 2013, 08:47:11 AM »
Is it really necessary to give TS-E lenses in that long of a focal length category the "L" treatment?
Either way, this is only a [CR1].
