Lenses / Re: Canon EF 12-24 f/2.8L [CR1]
« on: February 27, 2013, 01:03:18 PM »
I'd rather see a supreme 14-24 performer than an "acceptably good" 12-24. Unless Canon can pull it off and steal the show for that range, the 14-24 sounds much better (output quality guarantee-wise).

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon Center Pinch Lens Caps Now Shipping

Why is the release date for several of the caps different than the others'?

Whether a new 14mm prime or 14-24, it won't be that easy for Canon.

Come on, Canon, reveal the 7D Mark II's powers!

Ah, the 7D Mark II is predicted to be released as summer ends?
How come not when summer starts like a few pages have mentioned?

Finally, something to work with and gear the hopes towards!

By lenses do they mean regular lenses or cine lenses?

It's good to know that the probability of a 7D Mark II being released is increasing, but the possible replacement of the 5D Mark III? That would just upset many people.

Ah, what Maeda said can be interpreted in so many different ways...
It's like identifying unknown variables with unknown quantities.

Lenses / Re: 16-35 f/2.8II vs 17-40 f/4
« on: February 01, 2013, 03:14:59 AM »
As you may have already read previously, the key points to the 16-35 II are the extra stop of light, and the slightly lesser softness towards the edges.
At f/11 and f/13, the 16-35 II performs slightly better (not a big difference) than the 17-40 in most cases.
If you need the extra stop of light and money isn't an issue, the 16-35 II screams "get me." If you're on a budget and the extra stop doesn't matter (if you're primarily shooting in daylight), then the 17-40 would be the suitable choice.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Sigma Announces New 30mm f/1.4 for APS-C
« on: January 29, 2013, 12:00:49 PM »
For a second, I thought this was for FF. It would've been interesting to see an actual 30mm f/1.4, although the 24mm f/1.4 would've still been the winner of the category.

PowerShot / Re: New PowerShots for CP+, no DSLRs.

This isn't really a surprise, but adding a surprise to CP+ from Canon DSLR-wise would be great.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon's Roadmap for 2013 [CR2]
« on: January 27, 2013, 11:08:52 AM »
Finally some CR2 level news! The 7D Mark II and the 100-400L would be an expected combination from Canon.
As for the rebels, is a new one really needed every year? It doesn't seem like they're upgrading them that much...

that's what the cynic would think. The optimist in me says "not the story of the day" means there's something bigger and juicier that'll eclipse the 7d replacement
I like your approach. But the question is (with that in mind): with something bigger/juicier, will two bodies splitting from the 7D be released and cause a forked road?

EOS Bodies / Re: Where are you EOS 70D?
« on: January 24, 2013, 09:58:04 AM »
Where are you EOS 7D Mark II?
What will happen to the 60Da after the 70D is released?
Will Canon try to pull off a 70Da?
