5D MK III Sample Images / 5D3: is shutter dying?
« on: December 03, 2013, 04:32:06 AM »

A would like to ask for your opinion about three pictures below. There is a yellow strip on each of them, but is moving from side to side. I think that it is a problem with shutter of my Canon 5D3 - but I am not sure. The reason is that it is not happening always. Mostly it happens under some mixing light conditions, for example bulb light and fluorescent. But if I use a camera outside or in studio, there is no problem at all. So, I am not sure if the problem is really made by shutter (it actually has about 200 000 counts), or by some problem with metering system of white color balance (if it is even possible)..

Thank you for any hints or opinions, what could be possibly wrong.

Lenses / 2003 vs 2013 17-40/4L
« on: January 06, 2013, 09:27:01 PM »
Hi everybody!

I have just - I guess - simple question. Do you think that for example Canon 17-40/4L, which is (if I have right information) for 10 years on the market - will be still same? I mean if you like to compare lens made in 2003 and lens made in 2013 - would they still perform same (IQ)? I am just thinking, that even the lens is for a long time on the market, that company still have to inovate and using new components. So the lenses, even the old ones, should be changing in their performance.

What do you think? Thx.

Lenses / Do you switch off IS in sunny days?
« on: August 16, 2012, 01:42:17 AM »
Hi, I am just wondering if you switch off image stabilization on your lens in sunny (bright) days - for example with 70-200/ IS lenses? Or do you have it still ON?

I know, that I should switch it off when using a tripod. But what about sunny days with shutter speeds about 1/1000 and faster? Should I switch it off? I do not care about battery life, but I am wondering about life time of IS at all.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Strange sound inside 5D III (?)
« on: March 29, 2012, 09:05:11 AM »
Hi, I just bought a new 5d mk III and I am just wondering what kind of sound can I hear from inside of it. All the time when I press a shutter button (even half way) I can hear some "strange sound like really small twisting ventilator" from the part where the battery and the card is. It takes always same time - about 4 seconds and after that it stops and 5D is quiet until next press of shutter button. My 7D does not do it. It is not an IS. It is just "something", but I can hear it very well.

Any suggestions?
