EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X - June 20, 2012 in Japan
« on: June 19, 2012, 03:30:17 PM »
Live chatted with B&H today, they have no way of giving priority to CPS platinum members unfortunately, but I was told I am high on the list with an order # xxxxx86xxx ending with low numbers ;)
They suggested possible delivery by my next project, June 28.    One can only hope :)

You where lucky, the representative I chatted with told me is against company policy to give such information. And there is no priority other than your place on the cue which won't discuss either  >:( >:( >:(

I preordered the morning or the 13th, so I hope I'm not to down on the cue.

It is the luck of the draw which sales rep is helping. I also got confirmation a while back that I should be high up on the list to receive the camera, but the company policy basically stops them from telling you exactly what number you are on the list. Also, I think the biggest thing here is not where you are on the list, but when B&H will actually receive their shipment of cameras. Did Canon already send out the shipments and the distributors will have it on the 20th, or is Canon sending out the fleet only on the 20th? B&H basically told me they have no control over when Canon sends the cameras...

Obviously we will know more in 24 hours, but I have been wondering why we haven't yet seen any pictures posted on the CanonRumors main page of boxes and boxes of the 1D-X being readied for shipping (as there were just before the 5D Mark III launch).

Maybe because its just a few boxes here and there :) not enough to cause any excitement. When canon says limited first shipment..they mean limited. :)

Good read, thanks for the link. I'm curious as to why he gave the auto focus an 8/10.  Guess i'll have to wait till the full review :(

SWEET!!!   But...Canon has announced and missed specific dates before.  I'll believe it when B&H debits my account...

+1

Wasn't there an notice that deliveries were delayed until July and preference given to CPS going to the Olympics? Or was that in Canada only?

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Manual Posted

I think I finally figured it out the 'X' stood for the number of months that it would take to become available (Oct-August).

Then again when I got contacted to verify my CPS number for my pre-order my response should have been"Olympics... yeah, yeah, I'm going to the Olympics... sure. Yeah right I need it for the Olympics!"

HAHAHA!  I should of said that too...OMW to London!

I wonder what "very small number of cameras" really means? are they saying single digits or double digits :) lol.

i look at your avatar when i read your posts. cooooool  8)

Look on the bright side, if your CPS (and going to the olympics), it looks like you might get it sooner than many others who are not. :)

Cheers!

And another delay...no shock there :). Oh well.....such is life....

Canon is officially gasping for air and flipping out ! First there is no high res box , "we have merged the 1d and 1ds series to the 1dx"....then the d800 came along lol!! I wish I never bought this freaking 5D Mark III now,

LOL! I remember the day when hi-res was 12MP with the launch of the 1DS :) I really don't think canon is flipping out ATM.

EOS Bodies / Re: Preproduction Canon EOS-1D X Exists!

As this is a rumors forum, is nobody else curious about why two of the boxes in the OP picture have a round green sticker and the other two are just plain white (stickerless)?

Wonder what the difference is....

Could be the firmware version.

Lenses / Re: What is you wedding kit?
« on: June 05, 2012, 07:42:08 PM »
I am getting ready to start revamping my kit for weddings and as i was thinking about my kit I was just thinking how different photographers can get completely different results from similar gear. As i thought about it more I got curious what you all find as your faithful setup. I am thinking of investing in more primes for low light but not sure if I can completely rid myself of zooms.

What are your faithful kits and why does it make the difference to you?

2-Bodies
1-1dmk3 and 1-5dmk2

4 Lenses
50mm 1.2L (when things get dark)
16-35mm F2.8L (wide group pictures at the church and reception)
24-70mm F2.8L (flexibility)
70-200mm F2.8L IS (more flexibility).

And of course flashes :)

Cheers!

Stupid question here.....why are these "pre-production" models in (at least what looks like) retail boxes and why so many? Wouldn't pre-production models just come in old (1dmk4 or 1dsmk3) boxes? Why waist time in making fancy boxes? Other photogs like Frits van Eldik that got pre-production models, just had the canon rep drop it off at their studio....just curious..

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS-1D X Delays [CR2]
« on: May 31, 2012, 03:42:51 PM »
Not sure why everybody is so worked up about delays... the 1Dx was announced in october and said to be available in march 2012. It seems delays are 2-3 months right now, if they start to ship in june.

I highly doubt they are trying to do major redesign... with 2,5 months delay. I bet they are trying to iron out firmware bugs and get all it in good working order for the olympics.

Got to agree there, "if" it is delayed again(it is just a rumor..lol). I can't see Canon missing the Olympics...if they do it would be an EPIC fail. :)
