Anyone know of a 3rd party that makes different colored gels that would fit in Canon gel holder on the 600?

Canon General / Re: Canon Aims to Sell More Stuff.....

To sell more stuff, they have to ship them first...

Not really!  They sold alot of 5D3 bodies and BG-E11 grips and some St-E3-RT transmitters without shipping them. Its called "pre-orders".  I know most arent payed for until the item ships but how many people are not touching the money just in case the item finally arrives and want the purchase covered?  Sort of like paying, correct?

English translation??????

I've been anxious to see what the L bracket would look like. So in case anyone else was too.

I think people are forgetting that this is a sensor score, not a score for the whole camera.  The D800 has a better sensor, but does it have better features, controls, autofocus capabilities, frame rates?  Are the lenses available for it better?

^^^ Well said!! ^^^

these japanese can not count....

nikon offers the D800 too cheap in the UK and has to raise the price and canon puts a 5D MK3 label on a camera that should be 5D MK2.5.

And accidently added an extra "4" in the MSRP!!!

Obviously a rushed product from RRS. I have RRS heads and plates and all are perfect. This is unlike RRS. Hopefully RRS reworks the plates and offers updated ones to the early buyers.  Anxiously waiting to see the Kirk version before ordering.

There was some language in the manual for the ST-E3 that led me to believe that there will be other (even third-party) products coming soon that will tie-in to Canon's remote system.  Who knows - maybe Canon will be making triggers themselves?

Can you explain where and what you read? Thanks

I've been shooting digital since my Canon Digital Rebel. I've had many differest digital cameras since then including Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Kodak and Poloroid. In that time i've only purchased 3 different brands of memory cards: Sandisk, Lexar and Transcend. Probably about 35 in total. I've had some problems some of the cards.  All were the Lexars.
Cards I owned were mostly CF + SD.
I highly recommend Sandisk.
Transcend has so far worked fine but I mostly use the Sandisk now.
I would not recommend Lexar to anyone.

Software & Accessories / Re: tripod for travel photography

Just been to New York on the 22nd March one of my friends got this for his 5d Mark II 24-70/70-200 combo for doing much the same thing.

I tell you now it is very lightweight for travel just what you need. I tried the 100-400 on it and it coped ok. I think there is a website where people have put 600mm lenses on which I think is a bit insane.

Any idea if the ballhead is removable?  Would like to replace it with the RRS BH30.

If Canon release a RF receiver for their non-RF flashes to work with the ST-E3/600EX-RT system, then possibly that could be used to trigger a studio strobe via PC sync cable.  But until then, that's the main reason I'm sticking with PWs - the ability to trigger both Speedlites (via FlexTT5s) and a PCB Einstein (via PowerMC2).
You gotta think that in shops all over China they are ripping apart 600s to see how they tick. Someone is going to make a Canon compatible receiver, I think it is pretty much inevitable. The potential market is huge.

Yes I'm thinking the same about China shops. I am sure they realize how wanted a tool like that would be and the amount of $$$$ is there to be made if they do develop something to fire studio strobes with the new Canon transmitter, especially if Canon doesnt bring out their own.

Would be nice, but unfortunately I do not think so. I wonder if somehow those triggers could trigger studio strobes? Or do we still need to have pocket wizards or other devices. Can canon triggering system replace it? It would make sense so people would not need to have both, as canon solution is quite expensive proposition.

got mine earlier last week... love it too!  gonna get a couple more and the transmitter for a master.

I wonder if that transmitter could be used to fire strobes, like pocket wizard or other, if getting two and connecting one to strobe and the one to camera could somehow trigger it.

I hope that Canon or a 3rd party develop some sort of device to fire studio strobes with this new unit.  If so, it could be the dream setup for many photog's.

Thanks, I didnt even think of the 2 flash mount.

Heading to eBay now to search.
