Canon General / Re: Canon vs. Nikon from Google Trends
« on: October 19, 2012, 06:24:38 PM »
Yeah, Canon is encouraging everyone (retailers) with their MAP.

Pentax has never sounded so appealing as today! In 10 years from now Canon will a brand some will smirk at.

the real question is what will the 5D MKIII do when the Nikon D600 at less than $2000 come out?

the 6D is dead on arrival at this time when compared to the competition - sure, it may be an achievement for Canon, but it will be insignificant in the larger scheme of things...

LOL - more proof that whoever is in charge of running Canon is SLEEPING on their job, are OUT OF TOUCH with reality, and are plain IGNORANT of the market out there...

...they will run out of money like Sony is, and run their company out of business...

Sony has less than 5 years to get its finances right, or they will file for bankruptcy...

Canon has been slowly moving toward the same direction the last 2 years...

it amazes me how retarded Canon is most of the time...

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 5D Mark III - Price Drop Details
« on: June 29, 2012, 01:21:51 PM »
Its pretty simple if canon are selling this in the numbers that they expect then the price will stay the same for the foreseeable future on the other hand if its not selling well and there not making enough money which is what its all about they will drop the price simples. i expect to see a couple of hundred uk pounds off this camera for xmas.

your thinking is backward - it is the OTHER way around...

prices for any device comes down as manufacturing improves...

prices staying high is an indication that:

a) limited supply
b) normal sales (ie. no blockbuster sales to warrant reduction in cost since profits are coming in)

Canon with their strategy these days reminds me of Sony!

Hi i guess the price will drop sooner than later cause the 5D MK III ranked 20th in sales in USA & 28th in Japan as per DSLRphoto.com compared to D800 which is 2nd in USA & 6th in Japan the MK III it can't keep up with the D800 sales no matter how good it. D800 has higher MP advantage & cheaper price.

Megapixels do not a camera make... or something like that.  8)

A bajillion Megapixels aren't everything.  Look at both manufacturers newest flagship pro bodies. 16.2MP for the Nikon D4 and 18.1MP for the Canon 1DX.

I'm in no way knocking the D800, but there is more to a camera than JUST a sensor.  And there are people that will buy it JUST because they see 36MP and know nothing else.

You fail to recognize the obvious advantage of D4 and D800 over the MKIII - LOW LIGHT capabilities!!!!

There is always an initial rush. In the first several months you are going to have to pay full retail price. As supply catches up with demand, certain dealers will begin to drop prices a little.

But keep in mind: if the camera is great, demand is likely to remain high as the more careful shoppers who waited for early reviews begin to make their purchases. If the price drops too quickly, there's something wrong.

Don't expect any discounting until the Christmas shopping season.

Wait until Nikon D600 comes out... watch Canon's potential buyers sway toward the better bodies. Canon will alienate their customers who bit the bullet on the MKIII by reducing the cost by $500... they should, but are too ignorant to realize that...

Forgot the XXXXD series for the really, really newbies...

Hold on for a while. The 400D still takes photos. See what Canon releases. I would like to see a next version of the 7D.

EOS Bodies / Re: Is SLR dead?
« on: June 29, 2012, 01:06:52 PM »
I think that SLRs, like everything else, will eventually die, being replaced by the next thing...  when and how this will happen, only time will tell!  :)  I think mirrorless is the first step, and the fact that a lot of the P&S cameras are getting better and better!

Yes, but even if P&S reach SLR in terms of IQ, noise and ISO performance, we will not have the same DOF using small sensors....

You can safely assume majority of camera owners don't even know what is DOF.

Let alone the Circle of Confusion around it. Pun Intended. ;D

anyone knows what DOF means - something to do with the Department of Freedom

getting back to topic, yes, dSLR are dead! anyone buying them right now will realize that their bodies will  be useless and as they got old things don't function as they used to. As bodies age, they will notice stuff sagging, pants being to small, and needing larger underwear.

I would definitely stick with the point and shoot cameras. They fit nicely in your pants. Small is always good!

Software & Accessories / Re: Lightroom 4.1 Running SLOW!
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:06:14 PM »
bloatware, and POS software that slows down your machine... why the sudden degradation in performance?

I hope some other company out there will release something useful, because this POS is NOT worth it!

software companies should be optimizing their software instead of expecting people to buy the latest PCs with the fastest videocard and 1 million GB of RAM...

i7, 12GB RAM is still not enough?

if you want to do something about it, write Adobe and tell them that you intend to return the software back because it has rendered your work, the requirement specs on the package are MISLEADING and INACCURATE and you want your money back!

without the threat of financial loss, they don't give a rat's arse

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Nikon D600
« on: May 24, 2012, 10:50:04 PM »
It wouldn't surprise me at all. There have been lots of rumors here about the same thing for a long time. I would think it'd be in Canon's best interest to strike first and make it good. They certainly created room for one by moving the 5D up to $3500.

... to rape the buyers of the entry level FF for $2500...

I hope Nikon rapes Canon's arse with D600 for $1500!

Canon = Sony = losing touch with reality and customers out there...

12
I am now officially selling my Canon gear. I will be writing Canon a letter (via mail) and let them know that I have been waiting since 2008 for a sub $2000 body worth upgrading to.
They have been dragging their feet with incremental upgrades and substantial price hikes.

Enough is enough! I am taking my money elsewhere!

13
5DII in not mutch more expensive, quite similar spec. And you don't have to wait to get it.
I think 5DII will shortly be less expensive, becoming entry level FF for a few month, till a new cheaper body will be relased.
Diego

5D MKII = 5 year old tech, why bother with something that old for the same price?

14
Go for it... no ones holding you back

Of course this is the message of the day in a Canon enthusiast forum, if people aren't prepared to pay $3500 for an up-to date camera body, it's their own fault. But seriously, if there aren't any hidden drawbacks and the price would be indeed around $1500, Canon is toast in the mid-range segment, and rightly so.

The 5d2 with its af isn't comparable, though it runs magic lantern which is the reason I got a Canon dslr in the first place. I'm holding back any further Canon purchases until the very moment I really need them to see what Canon does next.
I used to be a big fan of Canon camera.  Recently I actually have stopped my Canon upgrade after I see 3.5K 5D3 and 2.3K 24-70mm MK2.  I might really switch to Nikon if Canon still tries to make more money from its royal customer.
To awinphoto:
We all want both Canon and Nikon make better and cheaper cameras for us.  Don't be so childish.

I am OK with a 3.5K 5D3. It's absolutely amazing. A 2.3K 24-70 is a little too much. Actually it does not appear that you have invested a lot on Canon's glass. Those amazing lenses have very good resale values. Maybe it's time to switch to D800. Or you can give the 5d3 a try first. It's amazing.

spoken like a true fanboy!

so, you are saying the D600 with those specs at under $1500 is NOT worth, but the Canon 5D MKIII at more than double the price, $3500 is worth it?

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D Specs [CR2.5]
« on: May 19, 2012, 12:04:48 AM »
Indeed, and Canon just wouldn't put a sensor into the 650d that can outgun the more expensive aps-c bodies. That's why they called it "650d", there will be a 70d with a sensor upgrade and *then* they'll put into a "700d".
Why not... think of the 450D (12 MP), which outgunned the 40D (12 MP). After the 450D, the 50D got a new 15 MP sensor. There is no reason why the 650D shouldn't get a new sensor, which will be later outperformed by the sensor of the 7D2.

BS dude! The 40D is a 10MP body.  The 40D is 10x the better camera for image quality (IQ) than the 450D. I have used both. The 450D is inferior to the 40D in every perspective!

The 650D is a FAIL if the specs are correct! Is this Canon's definition of an "upgrade" looks like? I hope they go the Sony way... they are dragging their feet! I hope Nikon kicks their asses!
