EOS Bodies / Re: Canon did everything it could in 5D3

I do not think so. I am sick and tired of seeing incremental upgrades... they like to milk as much as possible!

Sigma 105 f2.8 - superb lens - beats Canon and Tamron

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III NOT Getting Recalled?
« on: April 22, 2012, 02:19:51 AM »
a recall would be disasterous to Canon!

a recall would mean:

a) Canon would spend money on replacing and fixing the bodies
b) potential customers would think three times about purchasing it
c) admitting there is an issue, weakening their stance once lawsuits start being thrown around

the current issue with the bodies will be taken to court and there WILL be a lawsuit - but at this time, the collection of data is what is happening... a lawsuit is in the works, and Canon is now walking on eggs...

a recall would be suicide for Canon (but again, remember, you the customer are not that too important) - you should be ok in using the camera as it is! :)

not stressing mate! I have not burned $3500 for the body! the only interesting picture that I see in your posting is the one with the buggy - but again, any camera who shots in RAW - you can post process the images and do HDR to get nice textures and pleasing dynamics in the pic!

get the Canon HF10 if you want to add you Canon lenses to it!

EOS Bodies / Re: What will be the response to the D3200?
« on: April 22, 2012, 02:10:31 AM »
If Canon do "respond" it will be in the next generation. The new models that are all coming out have been planned for a while, and they won't be making last minute changes just to suit.

That of course leaves out the possibility that Canon had foreknowledge of this release, Nikon are afterall much less sucessful at keeping tabs on there future DSLR sensors due to the 3rd party link with Sony.

We did have pretty strong rumours of a 24 MP canon crop sensor a month or two ago with the uncertainy being over whether it would be in the 70D or 650D. With some foreknowledge I think its easy to see Canon either releasing it in the 70D and leaving the 650D release until the autumn or putting it in the 650D itself.

One less likely alternative might I spose be Canon offering improved AF on the 650D and selling the 70D on the improved sensor.

you forgot to look at the ISO, and AF points buddy!

The Nikon D3200 is rumored to be annonced by 19 april (http://nikonrumors.com/2012/04/18/nikon-d3200-in-black-and-red.aspx/).
The rumored specs are quite interesting for an entry level DSLR (24 MP sensor, 11 AF points, 4 fps, ISO range: 100-6400, with hi-ISO of 12800, "Improved video functionality").  I guess that the D5200 and D7100 will come with very interesting ++.

Will there be a Canon "response"? and when?

the t4i and 70d?? ... I hope we will see soon some solid rumors about those two models.

Any thoughts?

Canon's response = none, or at best release some new firmware

nice specs! Canon would be selling the same body (if they actually got around to build one) for twice the price, and all Canon fanboys would praise the camera and get a religion started around it!

Good to see Nikon destroy the competition with improved bodies! More customers flocking to their cameras!

The light leak issue is NOT of concern to the Cannon fanboys! They will blindly purchase anything Canon throws at them! It looks like Canon is too cheap to properly seal their $3500 bodies!

EOS Bodies / Re: 7D firmware update - wow, could it be?

I would be WOWing if they actually released a real 7D MKII instead of stupid upgrades! We need better bodies!

Check out what looks like twin mic's above the lens. Could it be? and When will it be? that is the real question 8)!

fake from a million miles away - look at the "black" tones in the LCD vs. the black of the body itself - two DIFFERENT shades of blacks... someone was bored and needs to learn better PS skills!

EOS Bodies / Re: Next Canon step in the matter of their sensors

Here's something I'd generally be interested in -- but, please, only reply if you have real-world experience, and not if you're only projecting your expectations from interpretations of an unfocused high-ISO macro shot of the inside of soWmebody's lenscap you saw posted on the 'Net.

In what real-world situation does the 5DIII have insufficient image quality for the job but the D800 does have sufficient IQ? That is, when would you put down the 5DIII and pick up the D800 instead of a medium format kit?

I personally can't think of any.

Cheers,

b&

Landscapes...in a heartbeat! The average sunset landscape can have a DR well above 12 stops, even above 14 stops. The more DR the better for landscape shots. Not that you will necessarily use all of it in the final product, but that you can always use the leeway when it comes to landscape shots. Being able to do even a touch of shadow recovery where necessary without encountering the color-blotched noise-infested pattern-ridden shadows that Canon is well-known for would be a godsend. Not to mention the improved sharpness on the D800e.

great pictures can be taken with ANY camera - I know people with cheap cameras that get amazing pictures without blowing thousands of dollars on bodies alone! they actually enjoy photography and don't waste time arguing over the interwebs over their toys!

as akways, we get half-assed "upgrades" from Canon - why can't we have less camera bodies with real upgrades?

have a xxxD for the newbies, combine the 7D with the 60D into one solid xxD class, then have the 5D, followed by their xD? even these 5 classes are too many IMO

For video, get the Panasonic HDC-TM900 for $800

it does 1080/60p at at 28 Mbps (an apperture of F 1.5)

why don't you people get a DEDICATED video camcorder for video if you want video quality?

TrumpetPower! - are you saying Canon has better lenses than say, Nikon? Would not say that that. Both brands, including Sigma and Tamron have good lenses.  Zeiss are the masters of all glass!

Would not say that Canon has the best IQ for their lenses. I have a Sigma 105 f2.8 which is MUCH sharper than say, Canon's 24-70 mm - yeah, comparing prime to zoom is not fair, but for IQ many brands have very, very good lenses!

for example: Sigma 30mm f/1.4 - a $500 lens at a fraction of the cost of what Canon wants to sell you - is a STRONGER and has an overall better IQ lens than Canon 28 f1.8, Canon 35 f1.4
