Street & City / Re: Famous icons in your city
« on: October 19, 2014, 10:02:59 AM »
Great Photos, I had fun tying to figure what city the pict was in if not labeled.

I am bummed I live in the sticks. No city-scapes and famous landmarks here .

Wait... wait - one of the first carousels in the USA is here and a church from the days of the whaling industry is still being used. I guess I will have to take some picts. I'll have to start a new forum - Semi-famous little town landmarks.

Chuck Norris made a pinhole camera with a higher frame rate and better autofocus than the 1DX.

( or was that MacGyver ?)

Short-billed Dowitcher closeup showing bill structure.
Handheld from kayak 1/1250, ISO 320, f/6.3, 400mm
60D + 100-400mm

This bird had no fear, it seemed to be very preoccupied with eating and ignored me. Was also able to get some super shots of Black bellied Plovers and Yellowlegs. Taken late in the day. I was thinking this is about as good as it gets with my equipment.

"Canon see impossible"

I believe this can mean only one thing … the long awaited Möbius - Escher camera has been perfected.

I can also open the pdf file without password. The pdf is locked for reading only.

On Mac 10.9.4 the PDF is seen as locked if downloaded with Safari. Opens with Chrome and then can be viewed with preview and then saved.

This answers a question i had,  - will it AF with my 100-400 and a 1.4 extender. Yes !

Black Skimmer Closeup. I am always amazed by the unusual bill and how they use it to catch fish.

60D 100-400mm, at 400mm, f/7.1, ISO 100, 1/1250

The last of the Skimmers are hanging around as there were a few late hatchings. I think they have gotten used to my kayak floating by.

Greater Yellowlegs

This more a BIL ( Bird in landing ) than a BIF.

There is a small inlet in my area that attracts flocks of Yellowlegs. On the day this photo was taken there about 40 of them. - Also Black Skimmers, Black bellied Plovers, Sandpipers, Herons, Cormorants and a Red Tail. Only accessible via water (kayak).
So I have the area pretty much to myself. I have to say it is a blast having your own private nature preserve.  ;)
