Pardon the novice question, but is it way out of line to buy this bundle, sell the kit lens, and use a 24-70mm L series I ?

The real question is is the L-series glass sort of overkill for a 60d?  I have my own answer but would like to know what others think?

Also, anyone happen to be selling a pristine 24-70mm L I in the L.A. area?

Oh, usage would be photography and HD video.

it wouldn't be out of line or overkill. I'm contemplating adding 17-40l or 24-105l to my 60d knowing that I'll likely have a full frame in several months.  I'm not doing  landscapes or tight indoor shots right now so don't mind that the 17mm equivalent of the 17 to 40 in APsc is 27 to 64mm.  You could probably get $250 for the 18-135 lens on eBay.  When my sisteri law got her 60d I gave her cash to add the 55-250 lens for $105 (b&h special at time).  Then sold it for $255 on eBay.  Profit paid for More than half of battery grip on 60d

How about a CANON 120-300 f2.8 is?  I know Sigma makes one but if price was no object and Canon made one that would be #1 on my list.

Also would like to echo the 200 f2 or 300 f2.8 is ii l       if price is not an issue ...

Lenses / slim filters necessary for wide angle 17-40? and 24-105 lenses?

Hello, I may be obtaining these 2 lenses in the next few weeks and had a question about if I need a slim filter for the 17-40 and/or the 24-105.  I prefer B+W filters and have them on most of my lenses.   I presume I need the B+W slim UV filter as an everyday protector for the 17-40?

With the 17-40, would I be able to stack the slim cpl on top of the slim uv filter or would I need to remove the uv filter?  just curious.

And is a regular filter on the 24-105 ok?  such as this one?

Love my Canon 100-400mmL.  I'd expect the new one to be $2400-$2600 but don't think there is a rush on the 100-400Lii because the 70-300L is presumably doing well and the APS-C equivalent to 112mm-480mm.  When I was on safari in Kenya last year lots of people had the 70-300L. 

On a side note, saw the 100-400mm in use as the handheld surveillance camera on Cinemax's Strikeback a few episodes ago.  I for one like the push/pull, wonder if Canon will keep that one the ii version.

You would think with the holidays coming up, canon would want to get the 6d out for an independent review to select photographers, newspapers, magazines etc so that people like me can decide whether or not to put it on their Christmas list in time for the holiday season...........

Or has it been reviewed and I just missed it?

Thanks everyone for the great input.  I love the 1/250th flas sync on my 60D and was shocked that the 5d mark ii and iii only have 1/200th despite the 5d mark iii being 2.5-3x the price.  And the D700 and D800 both have 1/250th.  I do notice a difference with max flash sync between 1/250th and say 1/180th - namely w/blurred waving hands.  my 60d + the pop up flash is always on 1/250th for indoor candids of my toddler.  One of the features I like the most on the 60d is the wireless trigger to the 430 ex ii....here's to hoping cano's future ff are 1/250th flasj sync or faster

I've had my bg-e9 sine jan 2012 and haven't had an issue with it.  It's definitely not sealed and no oring etc but I take it off frequently? About once a month and hit it with a microfiber cloth.   Had it in the rain once under an umbrella and no moisture got between it - but was only exposed for several minutes total.  Never had too much dust between but I always keep it in Tamrac bag when not in use. 

Grip is nice to have especially for long shoots and when in remote areas but I want to unload it before the 70d comes out and nobody wants to buy a used 60d grip.

After the disappointing 6d announcement I;ll also be holding out for the 7d mark ii.   I think it will be aps-c but if they make it aps-h Thats all the more reason to buy it.  I think the 70d may be announced first, maybe in January.

As a 60d shooter was looking forward to the 6d entry level ff I was hugely disappointed by just the additional 2 af points and 1/180th fash sync.   Came across this good comparison page regarding flash syncs

Why do the 60d, 50d, and 7d have a faster flash sync than the 5d mark ii and iii and the 6d??

I'm holding off to see how the 7d mark ii shakes out now.  the 6d doesn't impress me and the 5d mark iii is too much.

Just got home and haven't dove thru the 25+ pages of messages on this topic....but as a 60d shooter hoping to upgrade to full frame by Christmas I am extremely disappointed with the 6d.  Namely, just the 11 points of af and the 1/180th flash sync.   How the 60d has 1/250th flash sync and the 5d mark iii has 1/200th and the 6d has 1/180th is just mindboggling.  I even notice a difference with the waving hands of my toddler using 1/180th vs 1/250th f;ash sync.

Couldn't have Canon at least given us 15 af points even if they didnt want to give us the full 19 af points of the 7d???

I'll hope the 7d mark ii isnt as disappointing.
