I love freckles, smoking…not so much. Oh and I love the 5D3 as well.

Is that a 1Dx in your pocket or are you happy to see me?

Since My L bags all sit inside my largest L bag in a box, it's a non issue. Hoods are a different matter.

Lenses / Re: 24-70 versus 24-105 AF performance

I switched from the mk1 24-70 to a 24-105 and haven't looked back. The 50 1.4  in the same bag takes care of my faster moving/low light images.  (so does the shorty 40 on the 5D3.) I'll compliment it further with a 35 from either Sigma or the Canon IS soon.

I think the AF response is very close, negligible for most uses. The 24-70 is a brick, I sure like the lighter 24-105 for a walkaround and the reach. I don't use my 70-200 as much thanks to the switch.

If you like medium tele primes, I might suggest thinking about a refurbished 100 2.8 Macro. First off it's a great macro lens, secondly it's a fantastic portrait lens and it's a nice middle focal length (what's your 70-200 sweet spot?). Black lens, not too heavy and fast enough for most lighting situations. It also will give you the cash to buy a faster and wider prime, something that you're missing. If not than I also suggest the non IS 70-200 f/4 and get a refurb from Canon USA for under 600.

The 7D fit my man hands pretty damn well, the 5D3 is even better. If they make it smaller it will fubar the balance.

These dated comic references….hmmm……perhaps something ala Phineas and Furb

"Aren't you a bit too young to be shooting with a 1Dx and a 400 2.8 IS?"

"Why yes, yes we are."

I'm waiting somewhat impatiently for the Sigma 35 vs Canon 35 IS threads. With an initial $50 difference and the differences mainly being about stop action vs low light hand hold ability, this should be a good showdown. I'm wondering just how far either will need to be stopped down for max sharpness. If the Canon is sharp wide open then 4 stops of IS will be amazing. Unless your beautiful model is moving lol.

You have an IS lens so I would have gone down to two stops below the FL of the lens which would lower the ISO considerably. You could have shot it at 1/80, f/5.6, ISO ~ 3200

Wow, you can lock down FB? Please teach us. MZ will love to hear it too.
I think it's more "cool" and popular to love fb than disliking it for its practices, TOS etc. but most folks don't take the time to read up on it or experiencing it.
The majority has the view of "If one can't see it, touch it, it's not there".

Carry on and don't cross the road if... wait.. what?

Schooled again by someone smarter than me!
