Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Monopod & Head recommendations

I use a Giottos pod with a 234rc head, just works. NIce thing about monopods is their simplicity, ergo less choices!

I went from a T2i to a 7D to a 5D3. Wish I would have skipped the 7D. I suggest sell all you have except the strobe and prime. Get a 5D3 and 24-105 f/4IS.

Ilford is doing it's part to keep film alive and available. I don't need Kodak any longer. Delta 100, HP5, RC and Fiber papers, etc etc.

NOTHING like a properly crafted darkroom enlargement. I actually have a perverse satisfaction that it's a dying art. I still do it and feel it produces my best work. Caveat: for B&W only. My 5d3 and L lenses are pretty sweet lol.

Lenses / 5D3 and TC's
« on: November 11, 2012, 10:40:58 AM »
I have read the lists and charts written a couple years back that AF was only available on 1D series bodies when using a Canon TC with a compatible lens.
Has this changed with the 5D3?
I have zero experience with TC's and am interested in using one with my 70-200 f/4 and 200 2.8.
Can anyone point me to a list or chart of compatibility and AF with the 5D3?

Also, do the Kenko's AF with all lenses and bodies where the Canon's do not?

TIA

Landscape / Re: Shooting a moonrise - Need advice

We've been playing with Moon Writing lately.
Longest lens, tripod, ball head. Early morning blue sky moon works best. Bulb, live view and a loose ball head to swivel the camera and 'write' with the moon being your cursor. Pretty fun.

Doesn't it make sense that people would pay a premium for a much more handholdable low light lens? Up until these IS lenses (24, 28, 35) being released, what was the best low light prime from Canon? And with the exception of motion blur issues, will the ability to stop down 4 stops of shutter speed really make these lenses a low key shooters wet dream?

The next lens for me will be a wide prime…..which one?

Sure are a lot of assumptions of what lens will come with the 6D. I'm pretty sure it will not be an L designation. Any focal length L offered by Canon for a general use lens is too high priced for a 6D to not get into 5D3 territory. The exception would be the 24-105. And doing that would simply shoot sale of the new  24-70 f/4 L lens in the foot. Has Canon ever kitted an 'outgoing' lens with a new body?

Give me a better build, a true ring USM and leave it at 1.4 with no IS,  I'll pay a few dollars more than the Sigma. ~489?
