Lenses / Is this 70-200 2.8 II worth buying?
« on: October 28, 2014, 12:50:34 AM »

They have many to choose from is it worth buying these now or will Black Friday in a month bring about better deals? The one for 1,470 is actually tempting if it really doesn't show the flaws on the photos.

Software & Accessories / Camera Strap Black Rapid double alternatives
« on: August 11, 2014, 12:00:18 AM »
I am starting to do many more weddings and I love the idea of the black rapid double that I have but it seems overly dangly and loose. I feel like I always have to hold my cameras when doing anything. I don't know if I'm just being a baby and just not used to it or might there be something better. I love being able to quickly draw either camera and let the other hang but I feel like I always have to baby sit the other camera so it's not swinging around bashing things. I kinda wish it had another strap by my pants belt loops where I could attach something to prevent unwanted movements.

Hello all saw on my local Craigslist a listing for the camera mentioned in the title and was looking for advice on it.
I saw Kai of DigitalRev using something similar to this http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=38plXCYCvKQ
Any idea if this is a good deal? Is it hard to get film for these? Is it hard to get film developed for this camera? The photos Kai took were pretty cool with this camera and it made me want to try one and sure enough there's someone selling one locally. Thanks guys

EOS-M / External Microphone for EOS M
« on: December 02, 2013, 01:09:37 AM »
Good evening I'm starting to do a little more video work with my EOS M and I like using it for video but I find its not getting the audio I want. I'm looking to buy my first external mic but don't know where to start. I want to do some simple instructional videos like how to style so I'm thinking something like a lapel mic or a shotgun if those will work too. Can anyone point me to some good brands or something you already use that would save me time and money testing. Thank you!

Pricewatch Deals / Can you estimate a used camera price for me?
« on: November 11, 2013, 12:28:04 PM »
Hello all there is a Canon 1Ds on my local Craigslist and I was thinking about picking it up. The seller is asking 500$ and while I think that has to be close it's hard to put a price on it as there isn't too many for sale at the moment. Found a couple on eBay and they're asking 600$ or higher with zero bids. I do have an old 1D classic and used it for a client the other day and the photos were wonderful! 13 year old camera and 4 megapixels still makes great photos! I wonder what a 11 year old camera with 11 megapixels would do!

Third Party Manufacturers / Gitzo 1325 tripod is it good?
« on: November 11, 2013, 12:34:22 AM »
There's a used gitzo 1325 tripod for sale for 425$ seems like a decent deal considering the new prices of gitzos are pretty up there. Has anyone used this model? Is this a quality tripod with a good lifespan? Thanks!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Your opinion on backup camera
« on: September 03, 2013, 12:27:46 AM »
Hello all, I've been thinking about getting a second camera, I'm wondering what to get. So far I've been thinking about a 7D or a 1D3. I've used the 7d and liked it but full frame is just so nice and crop feels funny but sharing batteries with the 5d2 would be nice. I have a 13 year old canon 1d with the 1.3 sensor and it feels pretty good. I choose these cameras based on their used price of around 1000$ or would it be better to wait and get something newer?

Lenses / Help me price used equipment please!

Hey guys there's a few lenses I'm interested in that are for sale on Craigslist first is a canon 500mm 4.5L next is a canon 300mm f4L non is and last a new 16-35 2.8 version I. I'm most interested in the 500 but they all interest me for the right price. What's the value on these lenses? And I'm aware about them being older, but I am currently using a 20 year old 20-35 2.8 (which I love) and a 20+ year old 80-200 2.8(also love) thanks guys

Canon General / Advice, canon 1ds mark II and canon 20-35 2.8L
« on: June 10, 2013, 07:49:29 PM »
Hey everyone there is a local ad up for sale on a canon 1ds mark II and 20-35 2.8L for 900$ I saw both and they look great for the age and presumed use considering its was owned by a pro more than likely. You guys think it would be a good deal if I offered them 800$? If anything I bet I could resell on ebay for a profit.

Lenses / FD Lens to use with AE-1 and 5D2
« on: May 01, 2013, 12:13:42 AM »
Hey I've been looking at the EdMika conversions and I want to ask your opinions about awesome lenses that I could use with my AE-1 Program and my 5D2. Also if I get a focus screen for the 5D2 will that aid focusing with older FD lenses?

Canon General / How do you buy equipment?
« on: April 16, 2013, 09:05:06 AM »
Good morning everyone, I would like to know how most of you acquire your photo gear, do you pay cash for everything or is there a way to finace some gear at a lower rate than credit cards? I save money as much as I can but things come up and you have to pay for stuff, and so I put my photography purchases on hold and it seems like it stays there forever. I have a full time job and I make money here and there from photography but its annoying borrowing equipment or renting all the time and missing opportunities for great shots or business.

Lenses / Canon 300 2.8 and 500 4.5 used help
« on: March 19, 2013, 10:26:36 AM »
Hello all there these two older lenses that popped back up on Craigslist again that I saw back in late January and February. Are the prices right for these lenses? I'm sure both are just great to have but is there a reason not to buy them? Thanks for your input.
