Exactly the three lenses I already own:

- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
- Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM (+ Kenko MC4 1,4x DGX)
- Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro

In realistic mode, the same (except kenko - canon preferred).
In my dream: 24-105L for general + 100 L for macro + 200-400 L for wild

Highlights could be pulled down just one step. IMO color saturation could be pulled down with 10%.

I started with T2i + 18-55; next with T2i + 18-200 (bleah  ); next with T2i + 24-105 + 270EX; now I have 5D2+ 24-105 + 270 EX for filling.
I will never go back to crop or to built-in flash (even the cheapest 270 is better than popup one).

Yes. I have Canon lenses, flashes and PW radio triggers that all together cost way more than a new body. No way I can dump that investment.

On top of that I see no compelling reason to upgrade my 5D2 to either the D800 or the 5D3.

BEST ALL ROUND camera this side of the universe. . . heck I can't see ANY 95 in the Nikon example . . . . only in the Canon.

Wow, mark 2 shines in comparison with the D800 at high iso video... and mark 3 is by far the winner.

I believe a 1D4 is better value for money than a 5DIII - especially if you can get a use one.

Different type of camera but if you want a sports camera with top IQ then it is still the current top of the pile

The 1D4 is not even FF.

So what? The image that comes from it is top rate. 10 fps, top AF, metering at the AF point, AF for f/8 lens, good high ISO images plus all those nice series 1 functions (like manual settings plus exposure control). 5DIII doesn't come near it for sports/birds/wildlife.

First and foremost, I don't know the exact value of the company, but I know it's easily a multimillion to billion dollar company, and one less person buying their cameras- they won't miss that money, there are hundreds more out there who are interested in them.

I think this is not valid ...you must tell this to Nokia, Kodak, Philips TV etc. We will see Apple's destiny, history was always cyclic, now Apple is on the wave, tomorrow it will be like Nokia maybe, who knows. Any company (big like Canon or not so big like Nikon) must listen to any customer. And I really don't think in this moment (and after the first wave) there are people standing in line to buy 5D3.
I'm sure most of those who upgraded from the original 5D or from crop are really pleased. But those who upgraded from 5D2... I think they are not fully satisfied.

There's a huge flaw found in both Canon and Nikon's latest cameras that could affect your pictures.  After some testing it seems both cameras suffer from a low SPD rate (Shots Per Day).  Apparently it only seems to affect the SPD rate in the first few months then as the camera gets use to being used the SPD increases.

The cause at this moment is the result of people spending too much time pixel peeping and comparing systems.

Here, pre-order price already dropped to 3300 euros (from 3,680 euros). At this rate, in two weeks will cost the same as  D800
