EOS Bodies / Canon service centers are some better than others?
« on: May 01, 2013, 07:06:54 PM »
I have always had great service from the center in Nj but recently used the one in Newport news va, I have to say I was sorely disapointed.
Ps I recently joined the CPS platinum program and honestly I got better service out on NJ as a Joe Schmo than i did as a CPS member in VA.
I had to reship to get it properly fixed and this time asked for NJ as my service center. Result, received same day, being repaired, will be back in 2 days!!!!
I just wondered what other experiences have been with other service centers and is one recommended over another?

EOS Bodies / Strange bright line at top of images
« on: April 01, 2013, 05:55:08 PM »
At high shutter speeds (roughly over 1/500 of a second) an over exposed line appears and becomes more pronounced the higher the shutter speed. Do I have an inexpensive repair like a shutter or something more expensive? Has anyone ever had this problem before?

EOS Bodies / Annoying Digital photo professional bug
« on: October 21, 2012, 05:58:28 PM »
So here i was thinking my  24-70 was soft on my 1ds mark III, It turns out DPP sets luminance reduction to 2 by default even at ISO 100. I really wish canon would provide a better featured raw converter....

EOS Bodies / Need Help, 1 DsIII vs 5d mark III
« on: August 05, 2012, 11:49:09 AM »
Some really great condition 1ds III's are coming out for sale about the same price of a new 5 dIII and I wanted some advice on weather its better to get the older pro camera or the newer mid range camera. Does anyone have some good advice?

EOS Bodies / Visit to Bh Photo video, Held 5dIII it is awesome!
« on: April 02, 2012, 06:52:33 PM »
I am in New ork and had to go to Bh photo video, I picked up and tested the new 5d mark III. I own a 1 d mark III and a 5d mark II, the 5d mark III  is the by far the the lightest by feeling in your hand pro camera i have ever held. it is amazing but comes with a learning curve menus are different auto focus is different, but it was fast and responsive. I almost bought on the spot but didnt want to pay tax. I can't wait to buy my own!

EOS Bodies / 5dIII vs 24-70 II
« on: March 30, 2012, 03:37:36 PM »
I have a 5d mark II and the 24-70I , given that the new 24-70II is so awesome and will be out soon would i be better off buying the updates lens instead? I really don't live at high iso settings, landscapes don't tend to run move around, and the center point is golden on my "antique" 5d mark II autofocus system. I am very happy with the color i get up to 1600, but i mostly shoot 100-800. I have a 1d mark III also, so with all that being said would a new 5d mark III really be better than a lens that can actually resolve 21 megapixels?

Ryther is one of the most complained about scam sites, please feel free to take the bad link down before some one gets scammed. I post here not to long ago about all the problems a friend had with them. I really hope this was an over site by canon rumors. Soooo dissapointed :*( No one will get a USA camera at that price i suspect!

EOS Bodies / Is canon cps gold or platinum worth the money?
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:00:47 PM »
I registered all of my camera gear and came up with 58 points, I have never had a bad experience with plain old canon service so my question goes out to anyone that is a member. Is it worth the money to be a member of canon gold or platinum cps?

I was just wondering why canon would announce a camera so far in the future without being able to deliver? Is it prevent more people to defecting to Nikon when the D4 ships much earlier? I have enjoyed all of my canon gear very much, including the "dreaded" 1d mark III which i never had issues with in the least way, but i have to admit i have been tempted by the low light performance of the D3s. I wouldn't just ship entirely but there are many times i could use that kind of low noise high ISO performance. Esp in uptight catholic church weddings where even diplomatic use of flash is discouraged.

Has anyone really seen any high iso samples from a 1DX yet?

Don't get me wrong, i love my canon gear and have had wonderful experiences with canon service. I just was wondering what canon actually has up there sleeve with the 1dx :)

Lenses / Do all of canons 50 mm lens suck?
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:12:02 PM »
I have had my 50 1.4 recalibrated every so often but sooner or later back to suck. Is the 1.2 version any better or should I just get the 35 1.4? It seems to be much better rated. I used it with an aps-h sensor anyway so is there any one that has used one or the other or both?

Third Party Manufacturers / Nikon refuses to fix there own camera
« on: December 20, 2011, 09:49:25 PM »
I have a friend that bought a camera from Ryther camera, well it turns out they put a gray market camera in a USA box and the serial numbers don't match. To make matters worse the Nikon repair facility refuses to even touch the camera even if she paid for the repairs. Talk about sticking it to your customers. Is this normal? Would canon be so terrible to its customers?

EOS Bodies / 1DX has anyone seen a full rez sample photo yet?
« on: December 04, 2011, 10:05:57 AM »
I would really like to see what this camera can really do, Most important dynamic range and high iso!! It seems no one has had a chance to really get there mitts on it to do a very detailed review :(
