Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Nikon refuses to fix there own camera
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:58:48 PM »
I've always thought Ryther's was a bait-&-switch type of operation. I could be wrong. Most respectable  stores won't carry a gray market camera here in the US. At least they will tell you it's a gray or not. You should always get the business checked out before purchasing anything.
Apparently they took the USA camera out of the box and put a gray market in. The serial numbers from the box and the camera don't match and Nikon wont touch it without an international receipt. She had got the bait and switch call right after she bought the camera. When she didn't buy there overpriced accessories I guess that is how they made up the difference. The have horrible reviews on the web. I told to buy from B&H first Adorama second.....

I have a friend that bought a camera from Ryther camera, well it turns out they put a gray market camera in a USA box and the serial numbers don't match. To make matters worse the Nikon repair facility refuses to even touch the camera even if she paid for the repairs. Talk about sticking it to your customers. Is this normal? Would canon be so terrible to its customers?

Lenses / Re: Your Go To Portrait Lens?

I find my 70-200 F4IS is an incredible portrait lens and since it is just as sharp as anything else(including 70-200 2.8 II) its a great bargain. For group shots my 24-70 F2.8 is a go to every time. But of course the 50 1.4 and the 100 2.0 are sharp enough for surgery just not very convient. I am not a big fan of foot zooming :)

Its a great available light/wide angle lens you would be very happy with it as an addition to your camera bag. I have used it with all three sensors 1.6 1.3 &full frame it is wonderful with all of them. Crop sensors have the benefit of just using the sweet spot in the middle of the glass, but not as wide of and angle.

EOS Bodies / Re: The EOS 1D X Sensor Demystified...
« on: October 20, 2011, 06:54:47 PM »
According to dxo labs the 1dsIII has about 12 stops of dynamic range, the Nikon d3x has an amazing 13.7 both at iso 100. If its near 14 stops like the Nikon flagship with low noise that would be amazing for wedding and landscape photographers.

Bye bye Canon, hello Nikon.

You won't be seeing me here anymore, good luck with new Prosumer 18mp camera kids, and keep an eye on EBay, all my lenses etc will be there soon.
LOL you are jumping ship at the wrong time, but its ok. Go shoot nikon with and process the files on an AMD computer just to show the world you will not conform :)

In a lot of post i see people asking for more pixels, really? Btw how many of you have ever even used a 1d body? Let me say there is nothing else like it, even the dreaded 1dmkIII is a fine piece of hardware. 18 Megapixals with 12 fps is going to be fantastic!!! A 5d makes a fine studio camera, but its not very tough, and lets face it the autofocus isn't well suited for anything moving, this is a going to be a great sports, wedding camera and hopefully one that will put down all the Nikon fan boys about the d3.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for high IQ and Dynamic range, if i want to shoot landscapes I can always break out my 5d mkII.

What i really want is a fantastic available light camera that can focus in dim conditions without a flash !!
