we are like twins,  but I  have  the  cash to upgrade to a5dmkiii.  I have to many L  lenses to switch brands at this point. I'm locked in

I guess we are not the only ones :-)

Maybe i'll just give the 6D a try and see with my own eyes how 'bad' it all is. It's obvious, to get really better noise performance I have to go FF. Switching sides is just too much of a hassle. I won't lose too much money on my lenses, since I bought all of them second hand. But it will take a lot of time to get it all sorted. Plus, i'd hate to lose Magic Lantern!

I think i'm going to wait another two months or so, until the tax return comes in. The 5DIII's price will have dropped a bit more by then. I can overcome the 60D noise problems for now by just bringing some more light if needed :-)

I have a 60D now, that I use for shooting stills and video. The only real problem I have with it is high ISO noise when shooting low-lit conditions.

18MP is more than enough for me. I like the flip-screen, very handy with video. It runs Magic Lantern, not unimportant. I would like to go FF because of the better noise performance, but will lose the crop advantages like using the sweet-spot of FF lenses, low distortion and CA and all. AFMA would be nice, but I don't miss it now. I don't care for Wifi or GPS, or a popup flash.

The 6D just doesn't seem to be it for me at the moment, things like moire and lesser AF system compared to 60D hold me back. The 5DIII is outside my budget. I'm hoping the next APS-C body will show some improvement regarding noise. So i'm just hanging in there at the moment, waiting for what will come...

I have looked at Sony, and Nikon's D800, D600 and D7100 multiple times now. Having to sell my Canon lenses is the biggest bump, otherwise I probably would have switched already. If I would have to buy my first DSLR now, it would probably be a Nikon.

Yes, I would be disappointed, but I think it is to be expected that it will be the same. The new Digic will improve noise behaviour a bit and Canon will probably add some new features like WiFi/GPS. Add flip-screen and support for STM lenses.

I hope they put AFMA back in the 70D... sigh...

No flooding here in Holland luckily, but it's not very comfortable outside. It's very cloudy, windy and around zero degrees, brrrr....

Love the cherry blossoms and the 'weed' :-) , beautiful pictures!

Wow, nice pics!

We had some snow here yesterday as well, and it's just above zero here at the moment. But the days are getting longer so the flowers think it's time to come out.

I'm mostly right and a bit left handed. I have a mouse at each side of my computer keyboard, I use the one on the left the most. The right one is for 'normal' people :-)

I use my left eye for the VF. I wear glasses and I use the EP-EX15 eyepiece extender, works very well!

Avoids some smearing of the LCD as well

You hold the lens, not the camera. The body just acts as a display with buttons that's attached to the back of the lens

It takes some getting used to, you have to find a new way to hold it. With the 70-200, it's a bit strange but not impossible. I don't have anything longer than 200mm so can't comment on that

The touch-shutter function is very handy when taking pictures this way.

I own the M as well, and got my EF-M adapter from China last week. It's not as sturdy as the original but it works very well and it's a lot cheaper...

I put the Sigma 30/1.4 on it and it's a very well handling combo. Focussing with the original 18-55 STM is noticeably quicker though. Seems the stepper motor is optimized for the AF method, the HSM and USM motors get there eventually but it takes a while. So I would love to see a EF-M 30mm STM to have a 50mm equivalent.

The M with EF 70-200 is simply hilarious but the pics are amazing!

I second that. The 24-105 is slower and less sharp. Personally, I don't miss the extra 35mm at the long end.

The 24-70 is a bit large for my 60D, but it handles fine when I put a grip on. You won't have that problem with the larger 5DIII or 7D bodies. Build quality of the Tamron is great.

That 50L will still serve you well in terms of DOF, bokeh and sharpness

I vote for the Metz Mecablitz 58 AF-2 digital. Works very well, even the custom functions can be set in camera.

Basically it's a 580 clone, with a bit extra. It has a USB port for future firmware upgrades, and a small secondary flash at the front for fills, I like that very much. Oh, and you don't have to study the manual to get it working, the menu is very straight-forward
