Pricewatch Deals / Re: Holiday Lensbaby Deals

So.....this $25 - $50 off supposed to be a Special Holiday slap-in-the-face? If this is meant to be humorous, I am not laughing. A pathetic discount on an already grossly-overpriced lens system. I have tried the Composer Pro before and I was less than impressed with the build and optical quality.

What exactly do you mean "somewhat" popular? That movie is already at $210 million at the box office after its first weekend and has 93% score on RT.
It is pretty amazing to see the capabilities of those two cameras and the kind of production value you can get out of them. I bet they don't obsess over sharpness and pixel-peep for 8 hours each day :P

Why did anyone pay $4.3m for this...? it's nice... but whats so great about it.

Experts... please make me see the light.

My grandma has taken better photographs than this and she just learned how to use the shutter button on a camera. It has no depth, no message, colors are bland and has the horizon dead-smack in the center which is bad form. I wouldn't even pay $1 for this.

Lenses / Re: EF Lens Adaptor for iPhone 3 & 4!
« on: July 10, 2011, 11:12:16 AM »
HA! This thing is more useless than personalized stationary! I mean seriously, who would drop $250+tax on this stupid thing? The iPhone's lens is so small that it would pretty much defeat the whole purpose of the SLR lens in front of it as it gives an almost non-existent field of view! If they insist on making this thing, they should drop the price to $50 or less. Only then would I buy one.

The whole point of the iPhone as a camera is that it is so portable. If you're going to spend 700$ on an iPhone 4 and 250$ on the lens adapter you might as well buy a 60D and would give you much better photos and it will be one hell of a camera instead of a toy.

I have a 7D with a bunch of lenses including the 17-40mm f/4L which I have micro-adjusted to -4. At that point I have tested the AF by taking 10 shot with the AF and 1 shot with MF and all 10 shots are consistent and exactly the same as my 1 shot with MF. Micro-adjustment goes a long way and you do not need that $120 calibrating tool. I used the box of my 7D to take photos of the serial number while on a tripod; works just as well.

Lenses / Re: EF 8-15 Fisheye Coming Soon?
« on: April 19, 2011, 05:10:50 PM »
Canon doesn't make many useless lenses but the fisheye lens really is. It is nothing but an expensive toy. I will never pretend to understand the appeal of this lens. It's much too wide and un-natural looking. Since the lens serves no practical purpose, I'd buy it if it were $200-$300 which is what it's worth anyway.

Anyone know where the 5Dii and 7D are made? I'm assuming Japan since those are a step above the t3i build-quality wise but am curious to know...

Yup both of those are made in Japan.

Not true. The Canon Rebel DSLRs are made in Taiwan.

Here I think is a good website for identifying when and where your lenses were made.

And to respond to Kuscali on the previous page, by INOP I mean INOPERABLE which is what the abbreviation is used for.

Yup here you go. This is a list of all of Canon's Manufacturing Facilities in Japan. The 3 main plants where L-lenses and Pro bodies are built are Oita, Fukushima and Utsunomiya all of which are INOP.
