Not quite as dangerous or ferocious as Edward's African big game animals.

Viggo, at least he didn't have the lens hood reversed as I have seen on many other occasions.

Since it's the 4th of July weekend, the obligatory fireworks shot. 70-200 f2.8 II, f11 @ 4 sec.

It's small, it's light, and it doesn't attract scrutiny from the guards at some arenas (and, since some arenas ban lenses over 6", it fits just perfectly). Plus, if you're seated in the stands you're probably going to be shooting the 70-200 at 200 anyway.

You might want to look at this one - looks like the same type (if not the same item) for a lower price.

1dx and 300 2.8is

1/1600th
f 3.2
iso 640

i switched from my normal AF case #1 to AF case #6 and the result were really good for lacrosse, so in the future i'll probably start using it for football, soccer...etc.

i think i got his eyes in focus. 8)

Great shot! Unfortunately, the goalie also got his eyes in focus and made the save. Love the way you got both in the frame.

And while this one was actually shot with a 1D Mark IV, which is only 10 fps, sometimes that allows you to get the perfect shot:

Not nearly as good as sanj's spitting cobra, but a sequence showing what you can catch at 12fps.

This isn't a rumor, right?  ;)

I do not know. I never give forums my correct date of birth for security reasons, so maybe sanj has some inside info or it is her "forum's profile" birthday!

Thank you all so much for your good wishes - no, not a rumor. Today's the day - 21 again!

Hey, Jack Benny made a career out of being 39, so you've got him beat! Happy Birthday and many happy returns of the day!

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone knew and could explain the wave lines in the fence bars at the edges in this shot? I haven't seen it before at all and it seem they follow the curves of the subject behind them? Weird to me at least.

It's shot @f1.2 with the 85mm L II.

It's an optical illusion, I believe. Here's an article about them - not exactly the same, but I think that it is just the way the eye gets fooled - if you hold a straightedge up next to the fence, the rails look straight.  http://brainden.com/line-illusions.htm

Had a chance to shoot some pictures of my grandson playing in the yard today. I liked the expression and the sharpness on this one. 200 f2, ISO 500, 1/1000 sec. @ f2.
