5D MK III Sample Images / Re: Autumn/Fall Color Photos on 5D Mark III - Any Lens

Thanks!

Param,
Gorgeous shot...love the beautiful colorsDid you need to do any PP? Hope to get a 5DIII as my first FF sometime.
Thanks! Yes, it did need post to get rid of the atmospheric haze. The distant part of the scene looks pretty much a total wash out in the raw capture. It's surprising at times on how much can be pulled out of the raw file.

Landscape / Re: Post Your Best Landscapes
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:42:32 PM »Param..a very fine shot indeed - this is a good example of where the loss of IQ at a smaller F-stop (F32) is pretty much meaningless. I've heard this issued raised before and though it is true IQ lessens beyond say F10 or so in some cases where shutter speed is shorter. With this one it is somewhat irrelevant as the longer exposure absorbs more definition. On a side note (not being contradictory but to end off the possibility of greater diffraction at such a small F stop) did you consider using an ND on this shot to use a wider F-stop vs. F32? Possibly dropping down the ISO to 50 to get additional slow down if using a wider Av. Again, just a thought.
Thanks, Rev. Agree with your thoughts, the subject matter could have a bearing on the relevance of lens diffraction. A wide landscape may show a more perceivable softness at smaller f-stop than a shot like this. Would have certainly tried to use an ND and wider f-stop, if only I had my bag with me
Good tip on the 50 ISO, it’s a new feature for me on the 5D3 and admittedly did not think of using it.

That is beautiful. Beautiful colors and beautiful composition. What camera/lens combination did you use? Any post processing?
Shot with 5D3 + 70-200 f2.8 IS II
4 sec at f/32 ISO 100 200mm
Basic post in lightroom 4 to boost the oranges and greens, then applied some filters in color efex pro. I think i used pro contrast + sunlight filters on this one.
Thanks param for the explanation. You made the best out of the scene. Again: good eye!
Thank you!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: How to proceed?

5D2 or 5D3? 5D3 certainly.
Will the 5D3 deliver better "picture quality" than the 60D? For the most part yes.
Will buying all this gear help put an end to obsessive day dreaming? No.

For landscapes try to shoot as much as possible during the golden hour. Harsh mid day sunlight will rarely be appealing for this type of shot.

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: Post Your 4th of July Photos
« on: July 11, 2012, 08:08:24 PM »
Very nice shot and composition. What were your settings?
Bulb mode, 13 sec at f14, iso200
Had to go for a really long exposure since the old courthouse dome does not have any lighting, not sure if it's always the case or has something to do with the ongoing renovations. Luckily the burst were spread out very nicely across the frame so negligible blown out highlights.

Nice work, 12800 is definitely very usable on the 5D3. I have no idea about wedding photography so just curious, are shots of shoes something you are expected to provide to the client?
