The 70D AF-system is a big step under the D7100 AF-system.

EOS Bodies / Re: No 7D Mark II in 2013? [CR2]
« on: May 07, 2013, 01:23:30 AM »
The 7D Mark II hit the market in march 2014 if Canon don´t change the timeline. Prototypes are out for testing. This year you see only a 70D. Canon don´t put the 70D on the market in april 2013 because the camera can´t reach the D7100.

Expect the higher megapixel camera around august 2014 (+/- 2 month). But if Nikon put the D4X this year on the market Canon gets a little bit in stress.

Lens production is a funny thing. It´s no problem to manufacture a few prototypes, but it is a little bit tricky to do the mass production.

A EF 12-24 2.8 L and a EF 14-24 2.8 L is out for testing. The EF 100-400 IS L replacement is out for testing too. But there are many problems.

I don´t have problems in cold conditions. But I only work a few hours in cold conditions and return then to the warm car.

EOS Bodies / Re: What does SnapSort know about the 7D Mark II?

Forget the junk.

Both prototypes that are out for testing don´t have a Digic 6 or 61 AF-Points.

EOS Bodies / Re: 21mp Sensor in the 7D Mark II? [CR1]

I know two different prototypes. But no one has a Digic 6 in it.

It´s time that Canon reduces the price of the 5D Mark III around 2000 bucks and put a FF camera between the 5D Mark III and 1D X on the market that is worth the money you pay for it. I need a better IQ in the range ISO 50 to ISO 800.

Canon General / Re: Why do you do Photography?
« on: April 18, 2013, 01:33:43 AM »
Photography was my fulltime job in the last 15 years to earn a lot of money.

Now it´s a lot of fun because i have enough money, don´t need to work every day and I can decide the way I shoot the picture for my customers. I am in the fashion and fine art business.

But photography is not only a job for me, it´s also my hobby.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Announcements on April 23, 2013? [CR2]
« on: April 08, 2013, 01:10:54 AM »
There will be no big megapixel announcement in april.

First Canon has to replace some lenses like the EF 16-35 II L, the EF 17-40 L ...

Both lenses don´t work pretty with the big megapixel prototypes.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon 5D MK3 or 6D Replacements... when?
« on: April 05, 2013, 06:05:02 AM »
There will be no 5D Mark III or 6D replacement in the nex two years.

But there will be a FF over the 5D Mark III.

The only way to go 40D + 70-300L. Forget the 70-300L on a 5D Mark III. Forget to crop in and forget the TC´s.

If you put a 70-300L or 24-70 2.8 II on a 40D or 350D then you can see, what these cameras are able to do.

I have all the latest TC´s and not happy with them. The 7D Mark II is very interesting to replace the TC´s.

25
I can only recommend this two lenses (and the EF 24-70 2.8 II big grin):

EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS
+ 2.8 at all focal lenght (but I like it only from 3.5 up, at f/2.8 a little bit soft)
+ at f/4 better than the EF 24-70 2.8 II L (at f/2.8, f/11 and up to f/22 the EF 24-70 2.8 II L is better)
+ better build quality than the EF-S 15-85 IS
+ 77 mm filters like most L lenses
+ L-glasses in a non L lens
+ better colors than the EF-S 15-85 IS
+ sharper in the edges and less visible CA´s than the EF-S 15-85 IS
+ full-time mechanical manual focusing after pressing the shutter button half down
+ distance send to E-TTL
= only 7 blades
- hits from the AF only around 85 % (EF-S 15-85 IS is better)
- at f/11 the EF-S 15-85 IS is a little bit and at f/16 the EF-S 15-85 IS is better
- only 3 stop IS
- long and heavy
- build quality can´t reach the L lenses
- not parfocal (I love parfocal lenses)
- like the EF 24-70 2.8 II L not so good if you use the lens at a narrow distance
- some lenses have a dust problem behind the front glass after using it for a while

EF-S 15-85 IS
+ AF better than the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS (hits around 97 %)
+ 4 stop IS
+ very sharp
+ full-time mechanical manual focusing after pressing the shutter button half down
+ smaller and less weight than the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS
+ focal range is that what a lot of people want
+ build in tripod function for the IS
= only 7 blades
- focus ring feels cheap compared to the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS
- not parfocal (I love parfocal lenses)
- like the EF 24-70 2.8 II L not so good if you use the lens at a narrow distance

The EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS is better than the EF 24-105 L, EF 17-40 L and EF 16-35 II L on APS-C. The EF 16-35 II L is a little bit sharper in the middle.

If you don´t need f/2.8 or f/4.0 at all focal lenght, want the best AF hit rate and want save money then get the EF-S 15-85 IS.

If you want the best colors and L quality glasses in a non L lens than get the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS.

The EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS is the only EF-S lens that you can put with an extension tube EF 12 on a FF camera. But you don´t really want it. You don´t have AF and have a dramatic distorsion.

The EF 24-70 2.8 II L works fine on APS-C if you don´t need the focal lenght under 24 mm. But you have no IS, pay a lot of money and don´t have the right weight balance.

EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 7D Mark II Test Camera [CR1]
« on: March 30, 2013, 11:52:27 AM »
The mentioned specs hit to 100 percent one prototype that is out for testing.

But there are two different prototypes out for testing.

The AF system is totally new and amazing compared to the 6D AF system.

EOS Bodies / Re: Future of APS-C Given 6D Pricing
« on: March 27, 2013, 07:25:16 AM »
The 7D Mark II will be a APS-C camera.

The prototype is much faster than the 6D, the AF-system is a big step higher and you have first time an outstandig image quality in an APS-C-body.

29
Hint:

One of the 7D Mark II / 7D X (or whatever called) prototypes has a new sensor design in it. One prototype has two old processors in it, an other prototype has the new one in it.

But you will definetely see a new image enhancement technology (even in the new high megapixel FF). But Nikon is not sleeping. The new top of the line Nikon performs very well and is very well tested.

The image quality is a big step up like the D7100 compared to the D600.

30
Hint: Two different prototypes from Canon and a prototype from Nikon (maybe named D4X) is out for testing in the field.

The 7D Mark II is a big step away from a possible introduced 70D.

My advice: Wait until the 7D Mark II is releasend and then decide if you want go FF from APS-C. If you compare the 7D Mark II prototype with the 6D. Well ...
