EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Canon 6d for video?
« on: November 20, 2012, 06:35:22 AM »
The 5D Mark II is a good workhorse for stills and videos.

And Canon fixed a lot of errors in the last years. If you buy a new product you have problems with the support of the new raw codec for stills and you maybe have a lot of errors and problems.

Buy the 5D Mark II and invest in high quality lenses.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Problems with Canon mk3 locking up
« on: November 20, 2012, 01:31:33 AM »
It´s a very old problem that is well knows since December 2011. I report this problem to Canon in December 2011 because my prototype is locking up.

Canon knows that many of the 5D Mark III´s are locking up if you use SanDisk CF cards (32 GB Extreme, etc.).

The problem is, that Canon knows the problem and after nearly a year nothing happens. It´s a shame.

Conclusion: If you have many SanDisk Cards test the camera and if you have problems return it and demand your money back. Or forget the 5D Mark III and wait what is coming next. The image quality from the 6D is better than the image quality from the 5D Mark III, but the shutter in the 5D Mark III is better build. But as the 5D Mark III you loose with the 6D over ISO 3200 a lot of fine details. For professional use don´t go higher then ISO 1600 oder ISO 3200 if you don´t make action or wildlife shots. Possible the new high megapixel camera in a bigger body than the 5D Mark III is an option for you. The image quality is amazing.

Yes. Forget the 5D Mark III and get the 6D if you have SD cards or if you have a lot of CF cards stay with the 5D Mark II oder change from a entry level camera to the 5D Mark II.

Who cares about, if they are not able to put this feature in the camera. Use a 1D X instead.

I only want to see a better JPG-Quality that came direct out of the 5D Mark III.

In my opinion the EF 24-70 II is definetly worth the money you pay for it.

A camera will be not better by reducing the price.

If you only interested in portraits don´t waste a lot of money for the 5D Mark III and get the 5D Mark II with one or two good L lenses.

The EF 24-105 IS is not a perfect lens for portraits. It´s only good between f/9 up to f/16.

Don´t buy the 7D and wait what is coming new next year.

EOS Bodies / Re: A Brief 2013 Canon Roadmap [CR1]

Small sensor cameras are only the future for hobby photographers and as a additional camera for pros which don´t want to use TC´s.

Compare the price of a APS-C camera body with the EF 70-300 IS (L) with the price of a ff camera with an EF 500 mm lens and you know why hobby photographers mostly prefer the APS-C solution if they need a long focal lenght lenses.

In the last few month a lot of pros add a medium format camera to the gear.

Even Art (Art Wolfe) now use a Phase One for Landscapes and the 1D X for wildlife shots.

RE to the big megapixel talk:
I can confirm that a Canon camera with over 40 megapixels is in the field test. But I can´t say if this product hit the market. There a a few different versionen in the field.

Well all want a 70D (7D Mark II) and the big megapixel camera now and not in 2013.

And we want a EF 14-24 2.8 L now too.

A few people had the chance to test the lens.

Most of them are not very happy with the build quality of the build in TC and the image quality if you add the TC.

I have both TC´s, why should I pay extra money for a build in TC?

My personal opinion: The lens is too big and havy as a walkaround lens compared to the EF 100-400 IS. The solution with the build in TC is not amazing. For the mentioned price I prefer the normal big whites.

If your setup is correct return the camera and deman a new one.

A few people report such problems with the 5D Mark III.

177
It´s a well known error in the first 5d Mark III´s.

Return the camera and demand a new one.

You pay a lot of money for the camera and you have the right to get a perfect one.

A lot of professional landscape photographers use the 16-35 II and not a 24-70 mm lens.

They don´t need IS, because they mostly use professional tripods to get the best image quality.

For 1.499 bucks the lens is very expensive. I prefer the 24-70 2.8 II.
