EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 70D & 700D in 2013? [CR1]

The price for the 5D Mark III is okay, if Canon improve the quality of the RAW-data, the JPG-quality of the pictures and fix the problems that a lot of photographers report since april 2012.

Postproduction with files from big megapixel cameras will slow down you workflow dramatically.

I have a very fast computer and graphic card, but if I load the 60 megapixel Raw or Tiff files from the Hasselbald into it, the computer seems to be lame duck.

If you want to store big files you have to invest in additional harddrives or san´s.

Remember that you can make prints up to DIN A2 with a camera between 20-24 megapixels.

Hint: There are a few different prototypes in the field for testing.

I recommend Verbatim DVD+R 8.5GB DL 8x printable 25 DVD´s.

Panasonic BD-R DL 50GB 6x, 3 Bluray´s, printable (LM-BR50LWE3)

Lenses / Re: Photozone's review of the EF 24-70 f/2.8L II is up
« on: September 24, 2012, 06:28:38 AM »
It seems to be, that Canon has the same problems with the production as in April 2012.

I recommend this lens, because my two lenses are sharp from edge to edge in all possible focal ranges.

Some photographers that I know are not happy with their lenses, because they are not sharp from edge to edge or not so sharp as my lenses.

I test their lenses and totally agree with their opinion.

My advice:
If you hold the new EF 24-70 II in your hand test it in the complete focal range and with different apertures. If you notice any problems return it to Canon and demand a perfect one.

I don´t  accept drawbacks in this price class or above.

No other camera can reach the image quality of an 1Ds Mark III until today. That´s why I sold my 5D Mark III and that´s why I don´t get a D800.

More megapixels = better image quality is not right.

Canon filled a patent for a foveon type sensor. If there will be a 46.1 megapixel camera I expect the foveon type sensor in it.

But I like to see a new camera between the 1D X and the 5D Mark III with an image quality like the 1Ds III,  two CF card slots, the AF from the 1D X and two processors in an 5D Mark ... style body.

EOS Bodies / Re: 6D or 5D Mk II
« on: September 21, 2012, 05:57:57 AM »
If you want a perfect body quality and you have a lot of CF cards get the 5D Mark II. Speed and AF is not all if you only use the camera for landscapes, stills and portraits.

No other camera until today can beat the 5D Mark II in this price class.

EOS Bodies / Re: Best FF option

For stills and landscapes go for a used 1Ds Mark III or new 5D Mark II.

I sold my 5D Mark III because the camera can´t reach the image quality of the 1Ds Mark III and 5D Mark II (from ISO 50 to ISO 800). Speed and AF-System is not all and for landscapes and portraits  you don´t need a very high ISO setting. The 1Ds Mark III is the best Canon camera for shooting landscapes and portraits.

Re to: 70-200 F4 IS (may sell for 70-200 2.8 II) => Good choice.

If you have a lot of expensive CF-cards, forget the 6D. It´s a shame that Canon don´t put a CF- and a SD slot in it. It´s also a shame that Canon don´t put 2 CF card slots in the 5D Mark III.

Remember that cameras and lenses are only tools. If you have the skills you only need a perfect composition and the best light you can get. Don´t waste a lot of time with thinking about the gear and do some shots.

« on: September 21, 2012, 01:32:35 AM »
The new EF 200-400 is definitely no walk around lens, very heavy and expensive.

Who needs such a lens?

Don´t waste your money and use one of the big Canon telephoto lenses instead.

For travelling I wait for a new 100-400 lens.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: A positive feedback for 6D
« on: September 20, 2012, 01:37:03 AM »
I can confirm, that the AF works very well. It´s better in low light than the AF build in the 5D Mark III.

But I don´t like the quality of the body and I am not willing to use SD-Cards. The 6D is in my opinion a camera for private use.
