At 400 mm you can focus much faster with the EF 100-400 IS.

46 megapixel on a small FF sensor is absolutely a joke. Forget this rumor.

Wait for the EF 24-70 II. It´s a great lens and outperforms the new Tokina, the old EF 24-70 and the 24-105 IS.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon 40D or XS
« on: August 17, 2012, 03:32:28 AM »
Err 90 is a well known problem that occours in the 40D and 350D.

Normally battery removal solve the problem.

Go for the 40D but I prefer the 350D prototype instead.

My 350D prototype has a unbelieveble amount of shutter releases and outperforms my first 1Ds Mark III and my first 5D Mark II together. Both died after 500.000 shutter releases.

I don´t have any problems with the AF (1D X, 1D Mark IV, 1 Ds Mark III, 1 Ds Mark II, 1 Ds, 5d Mark III and the rest) in Canon cameras. The only problem I had with th EF 50 1.4 that needs some adjustments after buying it a few years ago.

Even with the old seven point AF build in the 350D in combination with the EF 70-300 IS I shoot very fast squirrels a few weeks ago. With the 5D Mark II the 350D is my "24h in the car" camera for private use. All images are in focus and sharp. The 350D is also my camera with the most shutter releases and antediluvian my first 1 Ds Mark III and 5D Mark II together.

If you shoot with very long supertelephotos or if you shoot under bad conditions it´s advisable to focus manually.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark 3 - Please help!
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:31:40 AM »
Even if you turn off the noise reduction the 5D Mark III add a noise reduction to the images and you lost details.

If you compare ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 images no notice, that with ISO 6400 you lost additional details.

JPG-quality is definitely better if you shoot with the 5D Mark II.

Shoot in RAW and develop the images in DPP or Photoshop CS6.

I report this to Canon four month ago and Canon is not able to optimize the image quality with a firmware update until today. It´s a shame, because we all had payed a lot of money for the 5D Mark III.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Problems with Canon mk3 locking up
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:26:02 AM »
If you use the Sandisk 32 GB Extreme (pro) CF with 60 MB/s the locking up is a well know problem that I send four month ago to Canon. The problems occours in video mode, in silent mode and if you shoot a lot of pictures  in a row.

But Canon don´t fix the problem until today.

Hint: Make sure that you format your CF in camera. But you can´t solve the problem with this.

Lenses / Re: best filter for shooting portraits (babies)
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:18:42 AM »
You don´t need any filter for shooting portraits. Use the picture style or your own pictures style for portraits if you want only JPG´s.

If you shoot in RAW you have many possibilities to optimize your pictures.

Look in the manual at page 316.

You can setup 5 or 7 shots in the custom settings.

Lenses / Re: Any updates on the 24-70 2.8 II lens?
« on: August 16, 2012, 01:54:39 AM »
To: bdunbar79

I only give you some hints. I don´t describe the technical and optical problems and let out a lot of informations.

I don´t give you any informations what prototype(s) hits the market.

I don´t say anything before Canon announce the introduction of the lens for the first time.

And I don´t post pictures made with the 1D X, 1 Ds Mark III, 5D Mark III and 5D Mark II.

This website lives form hints gives by photographers or the producers.
